Opinion: Is Weili Zhang the Greatest Strawweight of All-Time?

Losses matter. Weili and Joanna have never lost to someone who isn't a champion. Rose has losses against Tecia and Karolina at 115 plus Fiorot and Blanchfield at 125. And she lost to Carla twice. And she's never been able to win more than 3 fights in a row.
Her losses at 125 should affect her status at 115 tbh

Not saying JJ wasn't amazing, but I feel like JJ was dominant more because she became champ at the right time when the division was still finding it's feet.

It's like with Val and FLW. She got the belt when the division was still developing and was dominating the lower level fighters for a long time. Then she started fighting the next wave of better girls starting with Santos and was immediately having more trouble
Yeah and Rose lost her belt against one of the girls JJ beat the ever loving piss out of

I still have Joanna as #1 but Zhang is getting very, very close. They have the same number of title wins and Zhang has defeated Joanna twice...

If Zhang can make one more sucessfull title defense, she will become the SW GOAT, imo.

I'm a simple man; Joanna and Zhang annoy me, so I'll side with the person who beat both of them twice and caused each to have hilarious meltdowns.
joanna never had a meltdown via rose, she got a divorce because her fiance was cheating on her durring training camp she's a hetrosexual female with female problems nothing to do with losing she's lost before and has never been anything but a good sport, every fighter loves her.

She wanted to have a pity-party with Ronda, nuff said. <lmao>

I think you could definitely make the argument. Rose beat her twice which is the only thing going against her IMO.

However, beating Suarez was a big win for her. I think Rose on her best day would get grapplefucked by Suarez. That's why MMA is weird.

I think you could make the argument for Zhang, JJ or Rose really...

Weilli is still getting better and doesn't look like losing anytime soon. She will be, in my humble opinion, recognised as the GOAT of SW before all is said and done.

Her closest rival actively competing, funnily enough doesn't have a SW title to her name, her compatriot Yan Xiaonan. I do hope Yan gets another chance at Zhang. In another time she'd already be Champ.

Weili should defend again. She has some stylistically easy match ups ahead of her. I'm of the opinion that the next person to beat weili will do so via striking since Weili's chin seems to be getting worse, and despite being a good striker, she is hittable. Fortunately for her, while her chin has been getting worse, her wrestling has been improving and the top contenders in her divisions are grapplers who aren't going to test her questionable chin. She can use the same approach she used against Suarez to beat virna, for example.

I feel like if she just fought more, she could take the SW goat status in the minds of everyon this year. Unfortunately, she only fights like once every 15 months.

This MMAth discussion shall open up new branches of study and MMAth theoretical analysis. Amazing Sherbros..... amazing......

Crazy how Rose is 4-0 vs. two strawweight GOATs yet is still garbage in the mind of many critics

not to me. she's always been the best to me. not because of title defenses but because she fights like a man. Weili and Joanna aren't like her. Rose looks like a fuckin assassin when she's on. her only problem is she's a head case and can't stay consistent. but at her best, she's better than the other 2 by far, at least in my opinion.
