Agreed. Great news and particularly for Cat.

Been wanting to point out that if Cat where to need a tune up fight before fighting Rousey then they should consider making Zingano vs. Carano if the UFC will, indeed, pickup Gina Carano. That is if they want to legitimize giving Carano a shot at the title.

Although I don't like the idea of Zingano having to fight anyone I do feel it could be useful to her and she would almost certainly defeat Carano, assuming nothing dumb happens.

Carano is she did win would get legitimacy sorely lacking otherwise. (Not something I like but I understand money/casual fans wanting to see Carano vs. Rousey no matter the issue of legitimacy.)

This fight wouldn't hurt either of them or ruin their value. If Carano loses give her another fight or two against people she is likely to defeat who are also coming off loses(to rebuild her).

But I can also see the UFC not wanting to undermine a potential money making bout between Rousey and Carano, so this thought is a borderline pipe-dream of mine.

Good news about Cat. A title shot is something most fighters never get...and those who do get it usually only get one shot. So, as much as I would agree that Cat could use a tune-up fighter to shake off ring rust, there is just too much that could go wrong (another injury, she loses, etc.)...so I think they should just book Cat-Ronda in November or December.

Now wouldn`t that add some drama? What if Cyborg cornered Bethe when she fought Shayna (and I assume Ronda would be there in Baszler`s corner)? That could be fun!

Still no word on who made TUF 20 and still no word on Invicta 8? Hmmm....

Lots of interesting stuff and potential drama for sure.

I'd not worry too much about Invicta new this week until Friday afternoon but mild panic might be warranted Thursday night.

I found Justine Kish vs. Jin Tang and a bunch of Jin Tang fights.

MG_2302.jpg

First - Justine Kish (4-0-0) US vs. Jin Tang (12-4-1) CN* at 125lbs

http://v.qq.com/cover/i/in3s35e8kjn40lg.html?vid=l00135etuio

(MT destruction. Love that fight.)

*Listed record is the one that can be, sort of, confirmed.

* Just a bit of trivia but Jin Tang is the Chinese kick-boxer/MMA fighter Lena Ovchynnikova quit in mid fight a year and a half ago during a kick-boxing bout in China.

MG_2262.jpg

I used a search parameter to get these fights, you might have to do the same. 唐金

http://v.qq.com/search.html?pagetype=3&ms_key=唐金

If Justine Kish does make it into the TUF 20 house I hope she doesn't end up throwing an elbow by mistake. She mixes them into so many of her combinations and movement that I can see it just going there and connecting by force of habit.

But then, again, she is a trained professional so there ought to be no fear of such a mistake happening.

Robert Sargent told me that Jin Tang's actual record was 18-5-2. Crazy. Kirik's database has her at 0-1 lol. Seems like UFC would really want a Chinese fighter that can probably make 115.

Also Michelle Ould posted "Hungry. May as well get use to it"

Always Michelle Ould posted "Hungry. May as well get use to it"

I know Jin Tang has other fights but proving them is another thing. Similar situation with some other fighters out there. Hard to find the evidence even if you can see a brief list of names, etc., as that is not enough.

As an example I have Daria Ibragimova (5/8-1-0) UA at the moment. I can't find proof of those other fights, although Oplot had/has her record based on more recent information there is, at the moment, no way to confirm it so Sherdog's record is at 5-1.

Another example is Alyona Rassohyna (9-2-0) UA. Sherdog actually lists her at 8-2 but I know that she fought someone else and has a win over them and have seen two different versions of that fight so I list her as 9-2.

There is actually more to Rassohyna's story. I have seen records that suggest her actual record is something like 10-2 or 11-2 but again I can't prove it.

Lubov Belyakova (3-0-0) UA also is missing a fight from her Sherdog record as she has fought Alice Alimova twice. Both fights can be found on YouTube both took place in the Oplot promotion.

Saw Ould's post. She needs to feed.

I hope she gets what she is looking for soon.

marloes coenen had this to say on her facebook today...

"In this long hiatus from fighting (something is coming I have been told by Invicta, no UFC folks) I have to set my mind to something besides training. Today my 1st interview I did with Glory heavyweight champion Rico Verhoeven is published. "De Telegraaf" has an audience of 2 million readers daily.
Shout out to my mentor Mascha!"

not sure when "something is coming" is...but we can hope...:icon_chee

Yeah. Marloes Coenen was teasing with a tweet of hers a few days ago. (Soon.)

Fanpost from BloodyElbow:

Should I be worried about Invicta FC

The person who runs Invicta's twitter page has been fielding question of concern:

@ImJustDEO and we thank you for the passion! We are working towards securing the long term future of #wmma

@PashaSlayer @rsburcham love to hear the passion guys. Our priority is a better broadcast platform, only reason for the delay

@FightGirlDesign we are working towards securing a broadcast deal that will ensure the future for #wmma

I found this on Roxanne Modafferi's blog -

sofia-and-roxy2.jpg

http://roxannemodafferi.net/RBlog/

Sofia Bagherdai will be fighting Lynn Alvarez at the up coming WSOF event.

It is shaping up to be a nice event for Women's MMA. Bagherdai has a stiff test in Alvarez.

6-21 at WSOF

115 Jessica Aguilar (17-4-0) US (c) vs. Emo Fujino (13-7-0) JP, title fight

125? Sofia Bagherdai (5-2-0) US vs. Lynn Alvarez (6-3-0) US

135 Ashlee Evans-Smith (2-0-0) US vs. Marceia Allen (3-1-0) US
(NBC Sports Net)

I am pretty sure it was Valerie Letourneau who called out Roxanne Modafferi recently. I guess she wants a rematch from their TUF 18 match and they are both in Invicta at flyweight.

Letourneau is supposed to have a fight next week but I can't find her opponent yet. Just spent some time checking around and still nothing.

Modafferi appeared to be a goofy free-spirit with a gentle soul on the show. Except for when she had a talk-to-the-camera and mocked Letourneau, partly with a French accent, after she had beaten her. I don't remember exactly what she said but it didn't appear that her mocking was as a result of bad blood between the two. Hopefully it occurred at the instigation of the TUF producers, but I would still root for Letourneau in a rematch.

While I would like to see Cat get the title shot she deserves I would rather see a prime Cat than a rusty fighter against Ronda. With everything she's gone through, it would be good for her to face an opponent like a Liz Carmouche before getting thrown to the wolves.

No chance of this happening. The Gina Carano fight would be a one-shot deal. She's been out of the game a long time and there is very little chance of her winning.. no matter who she faces. Everyone involved would want to make as much money off that one shot as possible.

That means the two movie stars fighting. Carano vs. Rousey. There is no other option. Nobody but us forum-dwellers care about Zingano fighting, or "tune-ups".

TUF finalist Jessica Rakoczy aiming for Toronto return

By Ariel Helwani  @arielhelwani on May 7 2014, 10:44a

UFC bantamweight fighter Jessica Rakoczy has kept a low profile since losing to Julianna Pena at The Ultimate Fighter 18 Finale in November, however, she is expected to return to the Octagon later this year.

According to sources close to the 37-year-old fighter, Rakoczy is planning on competing at the UFC's Sept. 27 event in Toronto. The decision makes sense considering she is a native of nearby Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.

(I'm glad Rakoczy seems to be in better health and ready to fight. Been worried her shoulder injury would keep her out even longer than she has been out of action.)

INTERVIEW - Cassie Crisano
By Fabiola Nishi on May 6, 2014

The American Cassie Crisano is gaining fans fights in Brazil.

After making (her) debut here last year, Cassie returned to fight on Saturday and won the second victory of (her) career in Olimpia Fight 2, defeating Silva Glauciele with an inverted armbar in the first round.

And the athlete already has a fight scheduled on Sunday, now in Presidente Prudente, when (she) faces Brazilian Beatriz Zambonini the Ring of Fire.

Check out exclusive interview with Cassie Crisano:

Iron Lady: How did you start your career in MMA?

Cassie Crisano : I coached wrestling for many years in High School and continued training for many years, in 2002 I was involved in a car accident and had to stop training wrestling. When Gina Carano and Cris Cyborg fought I watched the fight and I thought to myself Wow! this is something I like to do not only stay in wrestling, that's when I started to train.

Click on link to read the rest (in Portuguese).

Cassie-Crisano-2-e1399306400429-467x400.jpg

In the interview Crisano talks about a fight that didn't materialize. Her opponent was Valerie Letourneau who is looking forward to fighting next week, assuming an opponent is ready for her.

That fight didn't happen due to the athletic commission wanting Crisano to wear a groin guard at the last moment.

I posted the HL of this fight last week but Spartan CL has released the whole fight, so here it is.

Brittany Elkin vs. Amanda Bell at 155

I already pointed out that is a pipe-dream.

On the other note there has been plenty of yakking about Tate wanting to fight Carano. Still it is mostly from forumites but that is what people on these, and other forums, are here and there to do.

That's great news on Rakoczy. She has some of the best footwork in MMA. Love watching her move in and out to set up her striking. Hopefully her TD has improved since TUF along with her grappling. She has a nice backstory which makes it easy to root for her.

Agreed.

Rakoczy did an okay job at first against Pena but she tried to knee Pena and Pena used that to get her down at the end. When it comes to strikers at 135 it is almost necessary to not kick or knee unless you are certain the opponent can't take advantage.

Or you've developed a very good defense against takedowns as that division is full of grapplers.
