Official Women's Division Discussion #27

She did dominate, but I think it would be disingenuous to say that was a great performance. She'll probably get in the same way Turkalj did.
I think they'll either give her another dwcs shot or some awfull offer that will make her go spend the rest of her career on bellator, ksw or one...

I firmly believe in the Second option (ksw)

I really hope that doesn't happen. Bleda would be the Kayla Harrison of KSW (said as a Kayla fan). Going forward, UFC will have the most interesting fights for her. I do think it's just a matter of when she gets in, not if.

Maybe Bledra could sign with PFL, let them have all the best 125
pound prospects. Meanwhile the UFC finally achieved their ambition to justify signing Cowan, it's so last decade.
Bleda to PFL wouldn’t be bad, there’s a few decent talent such as: Karoline Martins, Bleda, Lara Procopio, Sabina Mazo, Corrine Laframboise, Gabriella Fernandes, & Jennifer Gonzalez who are all not signed to any major companies.

I know they’ll fuck it up so Ditcheva gets handed a win but they have the chance to do something pretty cool with division. Here’s hoping they surprise us.

It’s all speculation now but maybe the UFC will give Bleda an offer when someone drops out of a scheduled fight. That seems to happen fairly often. I like Bleda. At 20 she’s a great prospect.

She didn’t show much of her striking in the Contender fight but she soundly defeated a grappler with far more experience. As @Hellowhosthat mentioned, it shouldn’t be held against her that she was a favorite going into the fight. She still dominated and won 30-26 on all three scorecards.

I'm not a fan of the reasoning that Bleda was a big favourite to not give her a contract. She's 20 and she utterly dominated an undefeated 30 year old.
Hailey Cowan scrapes by with a split: "There's something about her, I can';t put my thumbs on it."
Bleda gets straight 30-26s: She didn't live up to the betting odds. She needs more experience.

Maybe Tereza should grow her hair out and bleach it?

KSW is a wasteland for female fighters

Awesome main event for a fight night. I'm assuming the winner will be the number one contender, but I don't keep track of rankings. Any way, should be a good scrap.

They have competition with Mano/Chook fight... If Manon beats Katlyn it'd be pretty hard to deny her...

Irene Aldana vs. Macy Chiasson: Aldana via dec
Norma Dumont vs. Danyelle Wolf: Dumont dec via grapple-fuck unless she is TKO'd by the scale again.
Elise Reed vs. Melissa Martinez: Martinez via dec unless Reed gets her down consistently in which case I will be wrong as Reed should be able to control her on the mat. Not impressed by her takedown performance.
Just for fun I'll take the opposite this weekend.
Chiasson gets her grappling game going and smothers Aldana for the win.
Wolf with her punching power better than Poirier gets the ko.
Reed via watermelon breaking squeeze.

This helps the Grasso. Vivi barely makes it out of 3 rounders without being exhausted, she's not gonna survive a 5 round fight. Alexa also has a chin, so unless Vivi submits her fairly quickly, I think Alexa takes the decision.

Yeah this is unfortunate for Vivi who I thought won this in 3, but over 5 fatigue could cost her.

i'm pretty much with ya here, with only the following to add:
- IRENE IS BACK YAYYYYYYY
- macy *might* have some luck against irene in the clinch (if she could catch her)
- what's a danyelle wolf?
- women's featherweight still exists???
- reed v. super melly is probably the most interesting fight of the three on the card - i have questions about reed's versatility given her last fight against sampage and the low-key hype around super melly.

also fight pass comes up with the lols:

Bias, either for or against, is never a good start for predicting a result. Every Chiasson fight I'm looking for a repeat of her amateur performance against Dempster (where she?) That said, Aldana by ko.

The Mely Reed scrap is as much a test of Combate as it is of Martinez, taking her to win though.

My worldview will be shaken if Dumont doesn't beat Wolf.

Edit: oh dear after the weighins I changed my picks ...... Wolf is so tall she can surely keep Dumont on the end of a jab for 15 minutes and Mely is too small. Sticking with Aldana though.
