Official Women's Division Discussion #27

I see her as an inspirational story. She starts her career off 1 - 11. She never gave up and then went on to go 10 - 6. I got nothing but respect for her after doing that. I still think she should have won that Amy Montenegro fight.

Forgot about the Montenegro fight. Agree.

I hate fights where one person is clearly undersized. I should be excited for someone who has the potential to be a prospect at 125 but this fight does nothing for me. The late notice pickup should have been a 125er instead of a 115er. Just make the fight a catch weight.

Agree. Ricci just got bullied around the cage. Hope the UFC takes care of the poor girl.

On the next fight, DLR via grappling skill and game planning.

Two fights two finishes.

Fiorot did as expected. Ricci was undersized - give her a fight in her division. Interested in hearing from others on how far Manon can go in the division. I think she’ll do quite well but I’m a novice at evaluating. Another question is does she have a strong ground game?

De La Rosa was the violence queen in this one. Got her first TKO finish. She has improved her striking and was better at letting the fight come to her rather than just spamming takedowns. Looks like her move to Elevation is paying dividends. Felt her corner was giving solid coaching during the fight & between rounds. Mark DLR seems a decent coach to me. Lipski threw some hard shots. She must improve her defense & ground game.

She's got athleticism on her side, in a division with plenty of fighters that lack it, so she's got potential for sure. I want to see her get tested though, her two UFC opponents were not exactly world beaters. Pit her against Bueno Silva or Santos.

IMO Manon’s likely good enough to get into the rankings, but hard to say if she’ll go any further than that. She’s huge for 125, and while she isn’t the deepest fighter in any facet of the game, she’s persistent & good with what she does throw. She also anticipates takedowns quite well for a relative novice, and her own bodylock TDs are quite powerful too. The fight that sold me on her was her win against Cornelia Holm. Fights at 132 lbs as Holm is a 135er, and has a wrestling background.

I will say, with Fiorot, Blanchfield, Cortez, Santos, and Maverick on the rise... the flyweight division is seriously heating up.

Not jist this fight but shehas pulled out 4 times or so already in her UFC career.
Dana and Sean cant be happy.
I don't think she's been on Dana's radar for years, if ever. Sean focuses on the upper men's divisions. Mick Maynard is in charge of the ladies. As for him, he's probaby too busy filling slots to worry about a single fighter.

Where did you learn this?
