Official Women's Division Discussion #27

I fear 'getting head & armed' may have a different meaning in cartel territory to what it does in the Octagon

"Beautiful head & arm there, Joe!"

Carla fact of the month:
Carla is currently 2-0 vs top 10 UFC flyweights!

If Maryna 'Glass Lady' Moroz fought more often I believe she'd be ranked @ 125 as well, then Carla could be 3-0 vs ranked flies.

Not bad for an atomweight sized wrestler who can't strike (or wrestle, allegedly)

Janay last fight looks like she slayed her low fight IQ demons but I guess it was just she fought a lower level fighter. Terrible fight IQ seems to have gotten the best of Janay again this fight. She falls for the slowest triangle setup ever. I don't think Janay had any idea she was being put in one until it was locked in for like 5 seconds.

I only seen highlights of the Sumiko fight but her opponent seemed to only throw a single punch that missed after eating a few. Maybe I am wrong and the full was competitive but Kristina looked like a punching bag. Which is normal booking for Bellator.

yo...... count me in as "Fuck yes" for Zappitella vs. Hamasaki.

Also... Leslie Smith is about to beat Cyborg.
...dammit.

Cyborg looked great. Leslie is still awesome. haha.

That was a terribly late stoppage. Smith shouldn't have taken that many clean punches, she was done for. Horrible stoppage.

The Borg wants Zingano now, instead of rematching Budd. Predictable, I can guarantee that she'll brag about beating Cat, and make shady remarks about Nunes while she's at it. This version of The Borg is strange, she's still way ahead of her opponents, and maybe she's playing around to make Bellator's division look better than what it really is (you know, with all the praise she's given to it, now that she fights for them). But there does seem to be some decline happening, as she didn't want to trade with Blencowe (even though she was winning every exchange), nor did she swarm Budd or Smith like she usually does. I'll take a wild guess, and predict that if she ever fights Harrison, she's losing that fight.

The MVP of tonight's fights was Valerie Loureda's Cornerman. Everything he told her was 100% spot on. When you have a cornerman like that its on the fighter to listen to him and make the correct changes. Unfortunately for her she did not.

Zapitella doesn't deserve it tbh. Wouldn't even cap her as a solid fav to beat Miyuu, she's shockingly undeveloped as a fighter and the beneficiary of extremely questionable Kansas judging

Pretty sure Janay was rocked by that upkick and had no idea where she was. I wouldn't put it on her Fight IQ if she probably doesn't even remember how see ended up in a triangle.

Very possible. The problem when you have a long history of low IQ decisions its hard to tell. I mean there was a point where Leah had the triangle on the front of her foot without hooking Janay's leg to keep her on the ground. All Janay had to do was stand up or any other simple triangle defense and it was an easy escape. Janay saw an opportunity for offense and chose to hammer fist instead putting her deeper in to get a stronger lock. Look at the picture she even uses her left hand to stop Leah from being able to block the incoming hammer fist with her right hand. A rocked fighter does not do something nuanced like that.

What makes a fighter technical, in your eyes? A large variety of techniques? [roper application of the techniques you possess? Shot selection? Proper form?

Looks like Makenzie Dern vs Marina Rodriguez is up next!!!!

It makes sense, it's another possible title eliminator if Zhang vs Joanna II takes long to come to fruition. Even if Rodriguez wanted Joanna, it's better for the overall picture if she fights Dern; that way you can guarantee that a new face fights for the belt, instead of having Joanna send her packing in a "levels to this" fight, with Zhang more than likely doing the same to Dern (which would really stall the title picture, the same three women over and over again).

Heck, in my opinion that's two headliners right there. Fight Night: Dern vs Rodriguez, and Fight Night: Zhang vs Joanna II (or 5 round co-main in a PPV, if Edwards and Diaz can get a five round non title fight, so should the ladies).

Missed live due to timezone and things, and I could not watch the Invicta replay... there was two youtube ad breaks and one AXS TV ad break before the first match. It reminded me of the one time I tried watching Bellator. Guess I have to watch the darn show on computer then, so the youtube ads at least don't ruin everything. Back with some actual comments once I have managed to do so.

I miss Fight Pass a lot :(
