The official scouters will probably pick up Goldy despite Dana's best slave owner act. He is such a piece of shit.
best slave owner act? :D
emotions aside, is it a constitutional right to be fighting in the UFC? :)
Goldy seems talented, and a likeable girl/mom, but that wasn't anything close to a performance that unanimously screams "UFC contract".
she's backing up 90% of the time. usually that doesn't cut it on DWCS, at least judging from season 1+2
give her a couple of more fights, and she'll probably be signed in a year or two if she can keep on improving.

I don't understand how some fighters still don't understand how The Contender works. They use that show to build hype for fighters who otherwise would not have any. Look what it did to the careers of Maycee and Sean O' Malley. If you are on the show and don't fight with passion and intensity you will not be getting a contract unless everyone else sucked that night. Soundly beating your opponent is not enough. You need a performance to make people think you have a shot to be something special.

While the Contender Series might be what it is, and people should know what they are walking into nowdays (maybe not so much early when it started, when the arbitrary nature of Da.... well, it's Dana F'n White so anyone who excepted anything but arbitrary decisions should really re-evaluate things even back then) but is the series worth the risk? Of winning and still getting thrown under the bus by White.

Is the airtime + general internet "fuck Dana White!" that will ensue when he says something about a tackedown or something worth more than getting branded as someone who was not good enough for an UFC tv-show signing (though that should get you into Bellator, no?)

Well, I think i'm just rambling at this point, and I guess the correct answer to it is that the visibility itself of you winning will do nothing but good for you.

Hey, someone's beer!

It's also a career high payday for most of these guys. $10,000 is a LOT of money for fighters at that level.

Nevermind the train (without rails, I guess) of thought above then. :D

I genuinely thought that they are getting something like 500 dollars and a discounted lunch, given how things UFC related usually pay. So - they are paid like a generic nameless UFC fighter for the appearance in the show? Nevermind indeed.

I know it's a slow week and everyone is itching to see brain cells leave bodies but do try to keep up.

It so happens that Valentina hit a million followers today on instagram. So I thought I wonder what her counterpart Ilima in Bellator has. I was surprised to find out she only has 84k. If you compare twitter followers its Valentina 681k vs 11k. You always hear how much bigger the reach of the UFC is compared to Bellator but I did not think it was this big. This would also explain why Bellator has yet to create their own Super Star.

I also suspect the UFC builds fake follower content.

Checking now, not that you will read this before I post. Still typing because I am a jackass.

Dana White supposedly has over 1M fake followers.

Well I mean everyone has fake followers. I have fake followers and I barely tweet. I would assume the more popular you are the more chances bots will follow you. Can you do an audit of Dana, Ronda and Conor? or tell me how to do it?

Edit: Nevermind I figured out how to do it.

Dana at 4mil real 1mil fake and 79% Score
Ronda at 3.4mil real and 200k fake 93% Score
Conor at 6.8mil real and 450k Fake 93% Score

To stay on topic
Ilima at 10.7k Real and 700 fake 94% Score

I stand corrected. Both Conor and Ronda have way better scores. I see what you mean. 500k for Valentina vs 10.7k is still huge.

Just noticed that the UFC are sending Sarah Cheesecake to fight in Abu Dhabi just a week before the card in Vancouver .... are they trying to tell her something?

Always excited for a Ham fight, but this is kind of meh. It’s the Road atomweight champ vs DJ atomweight champ, but they’re fighting at “super atomweight,” because Rizin is “special.”

makes me think Hamasaki/Miyuu is going to be booked soon then. Ham will be kept for the winner. the last RIZIN Confessions hinted at Hamasaki/Miyuu being the next fight.

Ossetian Andrade-alike gurl running a power move clinic in this week's euro wrestle teenz championship. I was impressed so had to find an outlet for my impressedness, which is here (@ArtemV might like it too)

Jinh Yu Frey’s teammate Felisha Magellan just signed to fight with Combate.

She should work on perfecting a submission move to win all her fights by and nickname it the 'Straits of Magellan'
(preferably a Boston Crab, that always looks best when the commentators are shouting your move out).
(I dunno why, I just always think this whenever I see her name :D)

I think most people expected Moras to be cut already, but the UFC matchmakers probably thought they could get more use out of her first as a well-worn yardstick to measure their marketable but somewhat unknown skill-wise new signing against, which is quite sensible of them really (they aren't always so sensible...)

try to keep up? nothing new there, same thing as with Hannah Goldy.
they look for fighters who move forward, dictates the fight and goes for the finish when they have their opponent hurt.
people who saw the first seasons already know that
