Official Women's Division Discussion #26

I think you're underselling what a great win Maia will be for Davis alot here. Rankings don't matter much in women's flyweight still, sure the Carmouche loss was big hit to Maia's reputation BUT she's still one fight removed from being considered the best 125 fighter in the world and an Invicta champion. Davis also needs a rebound win too after her inability to do anything vs Chookagian letting herself point fought into easy loss.

People saying Maia was the best FLW kinda goes back to the 'strength of opposition' thing back a page IMO.

OK, Maia was #1 FLW in Invicta (whatever that really means), but once UFC made a 125 division it was obvious a lot of the names coming in to it were better and would be strongly favoured against her. I always find a little weird when people insist on strict rankings in such a situation when their proclaimed #1 would be a betting underdog to half the division.

As for a fight vs Davis I think Maia actually has a fairly decent chance, Davis is the opposite kind of grappler to Carmouche... 'styles make something something'...

Heck, I never figured JoJo would be this divisive a figure that we are in each others throats here in this threade....

/had to self-censor myself from posting two times on certain parts of the issue, certain posts earlier really triggered me :D

Yeah, she gets to accuse opponents of cheating, miss weight, display extreme sour grapes after losses, and people still love her and respect her and root for her to go to the top. It's the cutsey voice I guess.

Now compare that to how 'we' treat Carlabae for lesser crimes. Sigh.

;)

(but forrealz tho)

Sorry, but you cannot use FW as an abbreviation for flyweight when it's long established as featherweight. It's FLW or spell it out.

Post edited to appease the insistent.

Though when it comes to featherweight and the women's division thread, we should remember that...

:p

If it makes you feel better they have both pissed me off.

1.The road to the FLW title is probably quicker
2. She won't have to kill herself to make weight. Look at JJ and JoJo. They started out as FLW's but fucked their bodies up cutting for SW. Now they're physically outmatched at FLW.
3. Barber is pretty god damn big. I don't think she'll be undersized. She should have been fighting at 125 anyway.

Plus we get to see her knock the fuck out of Valentina :D

Wow. You say maia a dog to half the division then also a favorite to the #5 contender...
<Dylan>
Maia didn't come in from some can league wins over Andrade, Porto, Roxanne, Niedzwiedz. And she wasn't Invicta #1 but any credible mma ranking of said division, odds don't mean much vs wins and stats Rose is the #1 SW since she ko'ed jj the 1st time and has been an underdog two fights now and likely will be against Suarez with another win.
Tally maia op records if you want it'll be impressive I bet.

Hope this turned out pretty good. I put off making it and putting it out for a few weeks now.

The Red Goof stated that Shevchenko's first defense will be against Jessica Eye.

I'm thinking Valentina opens as a -800 favorite...and I might still consider betting on her for that price.

Hang on, seem to remember the last time Bellator went to Oklahoma to find a "can" for their new crossover star it didn't work out that well.

Almost as if promoters are shitty judges of talent. To go along with being shitty excuses for human beings. If they do well in this life, they move up the ladder and in their next life they are reborn as anal-dwelling fungi.

Ha. The old “let’s bring in this kickboxers to fight this boxer. Should be an easy win” trick.

This is a little better matchmaking. Fletcher is 2-0 as a kickboxers, 2-1 as a boxer.

"We all know this division doesn't exist" - BOOOOOOOOOMMMM!

With all the talk of TJ being hired to assassinate a division, people overlooked that Nunes had already been there/done that. Amanda "The Lion Pit Assassin Bull" Nunes

Cyborg vs. Anderson...then trade them to Bellator for Ilima and a 2nd round pick in the 2021 draft.
