Official Women's Division Discussion #25

I wouldn't say "cowardly". But I would question her resolve. Bisping went out rather than admit he was done. I'd question how well she deals with adversity now. I would question how much her heart is really still in this.

I expected her to get the record. Fight for the belt at 125 and then retire. Win or lose.

Now she has to climb that mountain again. Without the assurance that she had before. She has been accustomed to being the bully. Now she knows what is like to be on the other end in MMA.

There's a world of difference between being choked out and receiving unanswered blows to the back of the head. Friends choke each other out for "fun", tv hosts allow themselves to be choked out to make a program... no big deal. Not many people going to volunteer to be punched in the head. Anyway Joanna's on the Helwani show tonight, perhaps he'll ask her what she was thinking.

I'm sure he will, in the most dramatic shit-stirring way possible

You take less damage going out from a choke that you do from getting punched in the head. But either way you still lose.

She has the resolve to fight more than 70 times when you count all of her various fights. No one should question this from behind their keyboard.

That was then. This is now.

You don't have to fight 70 times to know that things can change over time.

I'm probably less interested in what she says tonight. I'll be more interested in what she says a month from now.

id say its likely joanna had a busted cheekbone or jaw, that was a big hook she got hit with, no shame in tapping if you feel you cant fight on,its not as if she is an untried can

This is such typical Shertardism. "Fighter lost. Got KOed. They're done. They'll never recover from this."

Of course they can change. And the one thing that never seems to change is people criticizing those who do what they lack the courage to do themselves. Or avoiding parts of statements that they cannot dispute, such as the part about damage, which you, like every keyboard warrior, are so quick to ignore.

Of course not. Taking less damage means you can come back quicker, plus avoid long-term problems. Only an utter moron would question this. (or, obviously, someone who has never been in there and is also a moron, since we seem to be getting the bonus plan of stupid lately).

I don't see that many UFC fighters tap to strikes. Maybe we'll see more of them doing it going forward, but I haven't seen it much so far.

As I said, I didn't expect her to stay long at 125 win or lose.

She's done pretty well in the UFC. We'll see if she's still hungry.

No, not many. Still has nothing to do with it being about resolve.

Given that she said she wants to start a family, no one expects her to stay long. And yeah, being champion with multiple title defenses = "pretty good" only on the internet. You, of course, have done much better.

Done wasting time with your shit.

Karina Rodriguez says she is fighting at Invicta FC 26

Quit has this sense of the contemptuous, doesn't it. She quit, she tapped to strikes, how cowardly. Tap to a choke or a submission hold and your lauded as showing common sense. Strange how preserving your arm from the inevitable is fine, while preserving your brain isn't.

Joanna knew she was done, I guess she could have taken a few more headshots w
waiting for Big John to come to the same conclusion. Quit suggests she could have fought on, really? .....No, she lost, she was beaten, end of.

It did look odd though that she was not defending, like she was too groggy too. But then as soon as McCarthy waves Namajunas off, Jedredzek was ready to stand.

Alexa Conners is fighting soon, as well.

I totally agree. I love the sport of MMA but it has some dumb traditions. When you have fighters like Bec Rawlings giving Joanna crap about tapping to strikes and we all know Bec will never even sniff the success or money Joanna has then something is wrong. Bec got KO'd by a jumping switch kick from PVZ. She is the last fighter I would expect to talk crap about Joanna.

I am excited to see Joanna vs Rose 2. I just hope Joanna has not lost her chin. In recent fights she has been getting rocked pretty consistently by things that should not be rocking her. She got flash knocked down by a jab from Claudia. She got rocked by Karolina. I am a fan of Karolina but we all know she has no power in her punches. It would suck if all those low pay Muay Thai fights are starting to catch up with her now that she's making millions. On another note, I was very impressed with Joanna's ability to get back up after the 1st flash knockdown. She probably was on instinct alone and she almost instantly got up while Rose was on top of her. Her ability to stop people from holding her on the ground is legendary.

Bec was just sticking up for her girl Rose, remember that Bec and Rose were fellow Skrapettes on TUF 20.

I wasn't planning on posting this fight but I came across some other information on an upcoming Bellator card so I decided to post both. (Still looking for Cortez's fight from this weekend.)

Yulia Kutsenko vs Zlata Sheftor at Fight Night Global 78 (Bantamweight, Kutsenko missed weight it seems.)

--

Bellator News. Bellator 188 adds yet another women's fight. On the prelims there will be a Featherweight scrap.

Olga Rubin (3-0-0) of Isreal vs. Iren Racz (4-7-2) of Hungary

Pic of Rubin. 5'9 and 28 years old.

of course a flyweight bout between Denise Kielholtz vs Jessica Middleton on the maincard is the most well known women's fight on that card.

Not good that Kutsenko missed weight, but I was favorably impressed otherwise.

I was thinking similar thoughts. She did grab the fence for a moment too. I was waffling on whether to post the fight due to these issues but it is a decent fight. She moves to 2-2 and avenged her previous loss to Zlata Sheftor (5-3 now) with that win.

She throws with some power and has fought at flyweight before. At least once.

More news. I can't recall anyone posting this yet but I've been away for five plus days and sick for much of that so I could have missed something.

Antonina Shevchenko vs Valerie Domergue at Phoenix FC 4 22nd of December.

--

I'm keeping an eye out for Nicolle Caliari vs Itzel Esquivel from this past week's LFA. That was a fun fight. I thought it was stopped a little early but not terribly so.

Worth seeing and I know some people don't get AXS.

Doesn't make her statement any less stupid and coming from the gutters. But then again, Bec is of the sort who revels in wallowing in her own filth in the gutters, so I don't think she minds if we judge her idiotical statements.
