The incident was reported in the MSM, and we're talking about a college with a student body of 4,000 people in a town of 40,000 people. Couple dozen people shouting, and a professor gets fired. How much coverage should this really get? Seems to illustrate the point I made about the GOP (and pro-GOP media) trying to blow stories about insignificant randos up for propaganda purposes.

Also, not sure if this is more or less scary for you guys (gullible types who genuinely buy into the moral panic that political propagandists are trying to whip up), but this is clearly coming from the kids themselves rather than "brainwashing."

Evergreen? It should get far more coverage than some bakers not making a cake. It was a bit of a saga, as opposed to a singular event. Probably plenty of dumber shit got covered too, but I don't watch MSM outlets.

The cake thing went to the SCOTUS, which means it has major policy implications. Civil rights issue. Affects everyone, theoretically. Who is affected by some students in a tiny college shouting? It's a nothing issue that people bring up specifically to get rubes thinking that rather than voting for tax cuts for the idle rich, they're voting against inconsequential college kids.

I think you have the Evergreen story wrong. But also, yes, racism is not a civil rights issue per se. People believing that others are genetically inferior to them doesn't touch on civil rights at all. And, yeah, I think it was clear early on that the cake story would have wider implications that actually affected people's lives in a way that the Evergreen story did not.

If you're certain everything that got more coverage deserved it then you're welcome to your opinion. Mine is that your view is what I believe is meant by that old forest for the trees adage.

You brought up a specific story that you considered to be less important that got more coverage, and I explained to you why a news organization would consider that other story to be more worthy of coverage. In response, you're implying that I am "certain everything that got more coverage" than the first story deserved it.
