The War Room Awards for 2017 are officially underway!
What a year it has been. The War Room has seen a great many feuds, destructions, troll jobs, and even a couple mass bannings. To cap off this crazy shit show of a year, it's that time once again to hand out awards to our deserving colleagues that have distinguished themselves during the last 12 months.

For the sake of condensing both the nominations and the award process into a single thread, please put "official nominations" at the top of your post. Nominations will conclude after 1 week, at which point I will tally up the results and post the winners in this thread.

In consultation with @Arkain2K and @VivaRevolution, the categories this year are:

• Best All Around Poster: We all have those rare individuals that get us interested or excited to see posting. Maybe they are consistently on top of their game, or maybe they just pop in every once in a while to drop outstanding one liners. Regardless, you look forward to their posts more than everyone else.
• Worst All Around Poster: The worst of the worst, and that is really saying something in here. of all the dregs and scum that filter in and out of this cesspool we call home, this poster is by far the most ungodly, abhorrent spawn to grease up the War Room during this year.
• Best TS: Well organized, topical, and not purely inflammatory. These are qualities many War Room threads lack, but this thread starter finds a way to generate high quality content. They don't have to make the most threads, just routinely create goods ones when they do.
• Best Thread: This thread stands alone, regardless of reason, as your most enjoyable of the year. Can be due to discussion, fun, or whatever. This thread really delivered.
• Worst TS: The most righteous of dumpster fires have to start somewhere, and this person is responsible. Not only do their threads suck, but they can't manage them or routinely fail to defend their flimsy, retarded OPs. You wish they would stop making threads or maybe just vanish from the face of the Earth altogether.
• Best Liberal Shill/Best Conservative Hack: That person you always find going around and around to defend their awful, biased nonsense regardless of facts or reason. Logic and rational thought play very little role in their presence here, and it's often downright incredible how far they will go to reject reality and cling to the melting glacier of fallacy that buoys their soul.
• Least Biased: That rare fellow who seems able to understand and process your point of view without vitriol or flaming. They get where you're coming from, and are happy to talk about it in relation to their own understanding. Quite the rarity, but not entirely extinct.
• Best Quote: Maybe it made you facepalm in pure incredulity, or perhaps belly laugh so hard you farted. Or perhaps it was one of those rare posts that totally crystallized and articulated a great point or concept. Include quote with link.
• Best Use of Media: Someone that always manages to post funny gifs, videos, memes, emojis, etc. Their media game is on point and useful, as opposed to spamming mindless crap.

Think of this thread as a place to air out grievances, scorn your rivals, or praise worthy cohorts. Nominations will close Wednesday the 27 at 9:00pm, Pacific.

Well, now that it's the coldest day recorded here in the last few years (-6 F), I'm super happy that the furnace went out. On a national holiday. So every day I make it being nice until it gets fixed is a miracle.

Yeah, that's why I live somewhere warm now. Check into a hotel and don't forget to bring along a few guns.

Sucks about your furnace. Had plumbing go out on a Christmas day one year with both families in town. Best of luck.

This should be interesting. I was chatting w/ rip the day he bounced and he wasn't breaking character; said he wanted to bounce. He then proceeded to force an issue to get him reply banned (I think he was hoping to get banned) and then he requested that he be banned.

"Disciplined" is spot on. I tend to take people on here at face value unless they show inconsistencies, and Rip was consistently the type of odd duck religious dude I've ran across in real life.

I don't want to turn this into Jack bashing, but I do want to answer the question.

I find his defense of certain issues extraordinarily disengenuous. From foreign policy under obama, to the handling of the rule of law post GFC, to the extent of financial corruption and it's dangers, to how corrupting money in politics and lobbying actually are, I find it difficult to think he actually believes in his positions.

I think Jack knows that democrat's are completely corrupt, he just has a reason for defending the status quo that he isn't willing to openly admit, or engage on.

I could be wrong. Maybe Jack just rationalizes his beliefs. Maybe he is right about this stuff, and I am wrong.

Just my opinion of course.

Yeah I think Jack sometimes uses his intellectual acumen to justify questionable positions ("CNN is pro-Trump") comes to mind, but I can respect a man of his convictions. There can be productive discourse between dickheads and idiots.

We will see. I imagine Jack, Anung, and myself will still be around here in 2019. I think we still have unfinished business from 2016. I know where I side in that battle, and I don't think the other side is going to go quietly into that good night.

Trump is keeping these divisions tamped down for now.

there was a thread a while back where he & I were going at it, & he was 'reply banned' shortly after. he PM'd me, sharing how annoyed he was about it.

on one hand he did derail the thread, but at the same time others were & they were much worse with the derailing & going off topic. I pleaded with him to bring that much up to the mod that 'reply banned' him, to help his case, but he wouldn't.

that was the beginning of the end for ol' rip.

If you read his posts on the private right-wing thread that went on for a while, it was obvious that he enjoyed taunting people with what he was, and in reality was probably a more toned down individual. But that doesn't mean that he wasn't what he said he was. Like most people here, he probably enjoyed turning it up and hitting the gas pedal to spark an argument, every now and ten, and didn't really give a shit if people who he disagreed with thought of him as a wacko.

It might come off as a crazy idea to some, but people who disagree with you, generally don't give a shit about your perception of them. To those who thought of him as a wacko, that was probably the intended effect. Many more people use forums as an outlet to tell people that they generally can't stand in real life to go fuck themselves, than they do in order to use them as platforms for reasonable discussion. Not that they cannot have it, but it's simply not their intention. And generally these people that are called out, don't exactly sway them away from their intention.

The good posters play a version of themselves, on steroids. The shit posters play gimmicks, and are quite easily exposed. You must be able to integrate atleast some part of yourself to your posts, in order to be able to hang in here for a longer period of time. To anyone that can play a consistent gimmick, I applaud them. It means that they are capable of seeing a perspective beyond their own, without making an absolute mockery of it.

I never understood the need to role play online. I just don't get the attraction as it seems like a hassle trying to keep years worth of posts in sync. Then again lots of hobbies seem like a waste of time to me, and I'm sure some people would say the same thing about the time spent in the WR.
