Official War Room Awards 2017

Anung continuing to show what kind of a man he is in this thread. I don't even have to say anything to make my point but "look at his posts."

Weinstein's point is fair, though perhaps not relevant if other accounts are accurate (specifically that white students were encouraged to attend off-campus events during the day but not to stay away from campus the whole day). I haven't followed all aspects of the story (and only recently bothered with any of it), and there's a fog of war thing going on, but here are three takeaways for me that you can look at and criticize if necessary:

1. It's not a story of national importance, and people who think that the MSM should have covered it more are not showing good news judgement. It's intensely interesting to some people for either propaganda purposes or because they have a deep interest in identity politics on campus generally, but that's why I'm not surprised about or critical of specialty media (pro-Republican or racialist outlets) giving it a lot of coverage.
2. The issue that initially set off the firestorm is more complex than many posters here are willing to acknowledge. Related to that, there's a lot of strawman knocking down going on and some blatant misrepresentation of the situation (and related to that, tribalism is driving a lot of people's understanding of what happened).
3. The protesters behaved inappropriately and Weinstein was screwed over, though it looks like he got compensated for it. Related to this, the administration's response was poor, but the asshattery had grass roots (as it almost always does).

Another thing I can add that relates to all of it is that there is an atmosphere of hysteria in some corners of the (non-mainstream) media that makes it virtually impossible get things right in this kind of story (another reason I stay away from them).

I think the story deserves to be looked at from all points of view, and you won't be surprised to hear that nobody does it. That's the main reason I avoided the story in here for the most part, because threads on it have been Jordan Peterson Echo Chamber threads that were just sickening, self-affirming, and worthless. The angle you're looking at this from has been bigly neglected here.

1.) Yeah I agree it's a bit overblown by that weird faction that has come together out of alt-righties, far lefties, and confused people who consider themselves socially liberal. Calls for it to be a huge national story are probably not out of genuine concern, but part of a really nasty movement who wants to use these kinds of stories against decent people. It's also a pretty interesting story to me and a bunch of people in here for more legitimate reasons.

2.) Definitely more complex than any short recap can convey (Weinstein himself said this just the other day, that even his own WSJ opinion piece only scratches the surface).

3.) That's right on imo.

The crux, as I see it, is whether Weinstein is correct in his original assertion- that this wasn't "switching places" but instead was an attempt to exclude people from campus; racist flexing. I think his view has been vindicated by the way this played out, with students intimidating administrators and faculty, vandalizing, threatening, etc.

That said, this didn't happen out of nowhere, yet it isn't "cultural marxism," so where does that leave us?

@Jack V Savage is a meta-troll. He dedicates a great deal of his time to being dishonest while pretending he is honest. Likewise, he spends a great deal of his time pretending he has character while berating anyone that disagrees with him. It's a pretty good gimmick, except that he's broken character too many times for anyone to take him seriously. Still, he's pretty funny, it's just sad that the only people that agree with him are the partisan hacks that he panders to, which he does a disservice to by provoking them though his dishonesty and propaganda.

Madmick once caught him spreading a lie about me and undressed him in front of everyone, spanking him on the ass for the world to see. He then walked around with his pants around his ankles with his bare red-ass for the world to see, arguing that it never happened. He's a good troll from 100 yards away, but when you get close, he falls apart.

Guess the poster, win a prize. That's comedy gold right there.

Funny, but I think Jack and Anung are both good posters and probably cool dudes to hang with, odd that they seem to hate each other's guts lol.

Happy 2018 motherfuckers, I don't hang out here much these days because it's bad vibes too often but maybe the recent purge will make things more tolerable. That disgusting fuck @Thurisaz is gone, @ripskater has retired his dumb troll account, hell, if by some fortuitous incident @Palis manages to walk out into traffic this place might become tolerable. @TheComebackKid is ratcheting up his trolling so that's still entertaining. EZShrimpin, that's too obvious, might as well see HollywoodRicky.

More to say but it's time to go fuck the wife, later dudes. And let me pre-empt the obvious response...

Yep, it was @dontsnitch. Another poster I think well of but doesn't get along worth a shit with some other posters I like. I had to give him a hard time over that post though, it was creeptastic. @WiolentOne seems like a garden variety retard as best as I can tell.

I don't find it odd that Anung and Jack despise each other.

Despite the fact that 98% of the time, I take the high road with jack these days, I tend to share Anungs opinion here.

The truth is that Jack is the WR's embodiment of everything I hate about the Democrat's establishment.

Go ahead @Jack V Savage, take some shots back at me. I opened the salvo, I'll give you the last shot, and return to my high road'ing ways.

I know! And I was right, too. He said that Obama's mention of slavery was "divisive" when the context was to point out our progress as a nation. I asked what made it divisive, and he said her mentioning it at all. So I interpreted his position as any mention of slavery in any context was divisive, which I thought was crazy. He called that interpretation "dishonest" but never clarified why.

In spring 2016 African American students and their allies brought their concerns about racism to the administration. Here is my problem with this narrative. Here is the post-industrial revolution history of Washington state.

The Everett Massacre

Sunday, November 5, 1916 marked the bloodiest battle in Pacific Northwest labor history. On that day, about 300 members of the Industrial Workers of the World (the I.W.W.) boarded the steamers Verona and Calista from Seattle and headed north toward Port Gardner Bay.

The I.W.W. (or Wobblies) planned a public demonstration in Everett that afternoon, to be held on the corner of Hewitt and Wetmore, a spot commonly used by street speakers. Hoping to gain converts to their dream of One Big Union, the Wobblies began street speaking in Everett during a local shingle weavers' strike, encountering brutal suppression by local law officers. Free speech soon became the dominant issue. The number of demonstrators and the violence of the response from law enforcement grew as the weeks wore on.

On November 5th, word reached Everett that a group of armed anarchists was coming to burn their town. 200 citizen deputies, under the authority of Snohomish County Sheriff Donald McRae, met to repel the invaders. The Verona arrived first, pulling in alongside the dock. McRae asked "Who is your leader?" When he was told "We are all leaders!", he informed passengers they could not land. A single shot was fired, followed by minutes of chaotic shooting. Whether the first shot came from boat or dock was never determined. Passengers aboard the Verona rushed to the opposite side of the ship, nearly capsizing the vessel. Bullets pierced the pilot house, and the Verona's captain struggled to back it out of port. The Calista returned to Seattle, without trying to land.

Document

On the dock, deputies Jefferson Beard and Charles Curtis lay dying, and 20 others, including the sheriff, were wounded. On the Verona's deck, Wobblies Hugo Gerlot, Abraham Rabinowitz, Gus Johnson, and John Looney were dead, and Felix Baran lay dying. While the official I.W.W. toll was listed as 5 dead and 27 wounded, it's likely that as many as 12 Wobblies lost their lives, their bodies surreptitiously recovered from the bay at a later date.

National Guard troops were sent to Everett and Seattle, and terror hung over Everett for days. 74 Wobbly passengers aboard the two steamers were arrested upon their return to Seattle and were eventually taken to the Snohomish County jail in Everett. All were released but one: teamster Thomas Tracy. Tracy was charged with murdering deputies Curtis and Beard, but was acquitted after a dramatic and much-publicized trial. Wobbly trial lawyer Charles Vanderveer counted this as one of the notable victories of his career, and it may have been the high-water mark of I.W.W. activity in the Northwest.

In hindsight one can see that a confrontation had been in the making for some time. Everett was an industrial mill town, with a predominance of lumber and shingle mills. Workers faced long hours in dangerous working conditions. Accidents were so common that it was said a shingle weaver could be recognized by his missing fingers, lost in accidents with unguarded saws. Cedar dust permeated the workplace, and many workers contracted "cedar asthma." Some lost their lives in horrible industrial accidents. The shingle economy operated in boom and bust cycles and wages were unsteady. For these reasons, much of the city's male work force was unionized by the early 1900s. Labor support was so strong in Everett that in January of 1909 the region's Labor Journal began publication from the local union hall on Lombard, and Everett gained regional prominence for its union strength.

In spring of 1916 the shingle economy had recovered from a sharp recession, yet workers in Everett mills were not receiving scale pay. They struck in hopes of regaining their 1914 wage scale. Proud of their status as trades workers, they were often at odds with the radical Wobblies who wanted to create a union that included unskilled workers in their ranks. The Wobblies had come to Everett to proclaim their message on numerous occasions. A group of 40 street-speaking Wobblies had been taken by deputies to an area known as Beverly Park where they were brutally beaten and told to get out of town. Despite severe injuries some were forced to walk the 25-mile interurban track to Seattle. The Wobblies vowed to return, in greater number, to show solidarity for their cause. Clearly neither side expected that the escalating confrontations would culminate in the tragedy remembered as The Everett Massacre; Everett's Bloody Sunday.

See, grass roots activism in the NW, has a history that actually understands that the goal is to unite under a banner of shared economic interest, and solidarity.

Where is this so called "grass roots" ideology coming from?

Where is the source of the idea that racial injustice is driven primarily by racist motivations in 2018, and how is that idea being propagated?

The problem is the term leftist has lost all meaning because so many on the right use it to describe anyone on the left .
It's also become a fit all term in general to describe anyone who criticizes Trump kinda like "liberal" has.

Okay New Year's Resolution. I'm going to be nice for as long as I can.
Don't do that to yourself DylanRansom, it's a formula for self-hate. Might as well go the "I'm going to drink less this year, and I'm going to stop smoking weed" route. Personally, I'm thinking of dialing it up a notch. War 2018!!!

I'm not sure I get that pimptight. Jack backs up his positions with sourced data consistently, what's to hate about that? Social issues are of course nuanced but despite me being a white dude from Dixie and somewhat defensive about it I don't think he's unreasonable or hostile, I can work with it.

Is that where that started? Without diving into that philosophical pool I just will always remember that "Jack's bare red ass" post as one of the most hilarious ever. Keep rustlin' 'em Jack, it's both entertaining and informative.

Note: to anyone who thinks I'm kissing Jack's ass here, I'll remind you and him that I addressed him as "dickhead" for a year or so. I believe he addressed me as "idiot" during that time period. It's about the journey brothers.

Cheers 2018 to all.

I'll take under. :D
Well, now that it's the coldest day recorded here in the last few years (-6 F), I'm super happy that the furnace went out. On a national holiday. So every day I make it being nice until it gets fixed is a miracle.

I don't want to turn this into Jack bashing, but I do want to answer the question.

I find his defense of certain issues extraordinarily disengenuous. From foreign policy under obama, to the handling of the rule of law post GFC, to the extent of financial corruption and it's dangers, to how corrupting money in politics and lobbying actually are, I find it difficult to think he actually believes in his positions.

I think Jack knows that democrat's are completely corrupt, he just has a reason for defending the status quo that he isn't willing to openly admit, or engage on.

I could be wrong. Maybe Jack just rationalizes his beliefs. Maybe he is right about this stuff, and I am wrong.

Just my opinion of course.

When I think of Partisan Poster I immediately think of JVS.
