Fair enough. I haven't seen it myself, but I believe it's happened. Still think "alt-right" is more widely self-applied and more useful than "new far left."

I've used the term regressive left in the past but I would think that's somewhat of a statement in itself that it's an extreme group that is accomplishing the opposite of what the core party is attempting (thus the contrast between progressive and regressive). I think that's a far more fair term that doesn't look to generalize if used correctly but of course it isn't always. And again, it's a term no one would self categorize to themselves.

Yes, I was trying to say it was his perspective for the second part and that's why his entire issue blew up. Definitely an over escalation that you'd think could've been handled with some type of public forum beforehand possibly.

Also, to @Cubo de Sangre and @Bald1, I would say that there is definitely some murkiness around the facts here, but the accounts of the other faculty members and students that contradict Weinstein's just seem much more believable to me, and both the student with the NYT piece and the three professors that had a HuffPo piece mentioned that the venues for the events couldn't possibly accommodate all invited students, which strengthens the claim that not everyone was expected to attend.

The instances I've seen have been articles but they comply with editing when asked. I would say the number of people I've seen wanting to opt out of the label yet still seeing new articles giving them that label would further add to the point that it's a poor term.

Makes sense in theory again, but in reality, I see "regressive left" or "regressives" to just refer to the left in a negative way rather than the subject that it can reasonably be applied to.

What are some prevalent examples of poor terms circulating in the media currently?

I specially am talking about the alt right label as there's been many instances I've seen of articles naming a person alt right and later having to change it out by request. It's a label that I think the media has been over using and poorly applying but like I mentioned, they make the revisions when asked

I'm confused because I think you want more examples than alt right but that is what I was talking about and saw examples of it being used. I didn't have multiple examples with altright being only one of them. I think we are looking at the switched around.
