Awesome free themes that everyone liked going away tomorrow but don’t worry, we’ll look for a way to charge you for them in the future.

Been loving the themes. What did they say that alluded to later charging for them?

Did people really like these themes outside of a vocal group online? I found them kind of mid outside of the starting up sound. The designs even cut off some of the game art which was odd.

Nice.

Microsoft is Third Party now. They just haven't come out and bluntly said it yet.

Apparently Microsoft Games (Xbox) as a publisher did REALLY REALLY well this past holiday season, mostly due to sales on PS5.

For the month of December, Xbox was the biggest video games publisher in the world — according to a recent number-crunching analysis.

The data comes from Ampere, which states that $465 million was spent on games owned and published by Microsoft, making it the largest publisher of them all last month.

This shouldn't come as much of a surprise, really — Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 was the company's biggest driver of sales in December, as you might expect, while the well-received Indiana Jones and the Great Circle also launched in that time frame.

One interesting statistic is that 64 per cent, nearly two thirds, of December's consumer spending on Microsoft's video games was on PS5 and PS4. Though this will broadly be thanks to Black Ops 6, this might partly explain why Xbox is now all-in on releasing its games on rival systems.

Yep I suspected Phil’s recent interviews were to prepare the community for announcements like their. Word is Halo MCC is next.
They haven't denied any of the recent rumors about Halo or Gears or Starfield coming over, and now that Forza Horizon 5 is official we can consider those rumors confirmed.

Yeah, all signs point to yes in concert with your guys' remarks and predictions here. A Windows insider recently confirmed MCC next up, too. I've never played Halo before; might have to buy and give a go.

PlayStation Universe (PSU) reports Demon's Souls and GT7 no longer porting to PC, which jives with talk elsewhere on Sony lassoing in PC for live-service titles going forward; titles otherwise staying home on PlayStation.

Yep I expect to see a ton of games come out from MS. They hired an outside studio to port over Forza. That means they are serious about this and not just serious but want it done quickly.

Think about it. One year ago they spent 70 billion on the Xbox division. They just reported that they are down 7% in revenue. So you spent 70 billion and a year later your revenue is down 7%. They are going to release a ton of games this year and they still only project to make single digit growth next quarter. Like Phil said exclusives just don't work for their business anymore.

Smart move. With what's going on at Xbox they need to be patient their growth will come. Still a ton of users on old systems who will need to upgrade soon and PS has now become the default option.

Exclusivity makes sense if one has a robust network effect, IMO, which both Nintendo and Sony have. MSFT smart to lean third-party publisher and infrastructure player at this stage.

If Xbox is now a true 3rd party, I hope we get Fable. Not sure I have hopes it's a good game, but worth hoping for. I have great memories playing the first one.

Jez Coden from Windows central already said to expect everything. Fable was apparently very very expensive for MS to make so it's pretty much guaranteed. I saw one insider say it wont be day and date because these changes were made to late in development. Which Jez already said that any game that isn't day and date is because the studio wasn't setup for it and didn't have time not because MS doesn't want it on everything.

Saw someone post this image for December spending for MS games. Expect to see this number go up to nearly 80% as MS is about to flood PS with games this year. At this point PS will become a priority for MS over their own ecosystem.

Could swear I was told MS wasn’t going to go this route, first big game form their big show released (Indy) coming to PS now they’re starting to put their big 3.
