So my wife asked last night if I’d be interested in a PSVR2 for Christmas as they’ve apparently got a really good sale right now (I think she said something like $480 down from $750 Canadian). I’ve never really given it any thought before, getting a VR set of any kind.

Anyone that has one, how is it? I understand that recently they released an adapter to make it compatible with PC. Has anyone tried that functionality yet? Would it work on my laptop that has an i7-12700 and a RTX 3070 Ti?
I love mine. It’s weird because I go through long periods of time without playing it but that’s because at the end of the day I’m usually exhausted between work and playing with my daughter. When I do play it though it’s some of the most fun I’ve had this gen. I made a post just yesterday about this but I think now is the best time to buy one because there’s a lot of big titles releasing. Also recommend subscribing to PS Premium. They give away one PSVR2 game each month. One of the latest ones was Synpase which is fantastic. They also gave away Walkabout Golf. I should note I been playing these all on PS5 so I don’t know what it’s like on the adapter.

I'm ready. One thing I hope they include in future installments is a difficulty adjustment option. It's puzzling why developers don't offer this more often. While I understand that studios like FromSoftware have their own unique approach, they’re more of an exception than the rule.

There should be a traditional range of difficulty settings:
  • Easy
  • Medium
  • Hard
  • Extra Hard
  • Death
And players should have the flexibility to tweak these settings as they see fit.

When I played GOW:R on Hard, it somewhat diminished the experience. It turned into a sponge-fest with random projectiles coming out of nowhere. Let me crank up the enemy damage while also letting me still feel like the GOW.

It can create some pretty incredible experiences. It’s easily the best bang for your buck, especially at that sale price when it comes to VR.

I bought the adapter but I haven’t set it up on my laptop yet but yes, your 3070 would work well with it.

Thanks. Well, in that case maybe I’ll tell her sure, and I’ll put the breaks on a PS5 Pro for now since I cannot find a disc drive anywhere. I can always buy a Pro later for myself for my 40th in May.

Says the guy who can’t imagine putting half a billion into manhattan real estate in the 80s/90s would turn into 80 billion 30+ years later.

That’s why I didn’t predict a new game. It’s way too early for a reveal. Game development takes a very long time and Ragnarok didn’t come out that long ago. Also more reason to ignore these news outlets lol, they’re wrong more than they are right.

Wouldn't even say they're 'news outlets,' they're just twitter accounts that farm subs and likes with bullshit stories.

There's a dozen of them related to Marvel and I'm now in the habit of just blocking them. Saw one the other day claiming Deadpool 4 is currently being written and Hugh Jackman and Tobey McGuire are in talks to join Ryan Reynolds.

<puhlease>

Suuurrreeee Tobey is.

IP Preservation @ SIE

Glad to see they are taking it seriously in regards to preserving stuff from throughout the years unlike some companies

Dynasty Warriors Origins demo was really great. Convinced me to preorder as soon as I was done with it. Nice to have my first purchase of 2025 already. I recommend giving it a shot if you find musou games fun and even if you don’t it may be worth trying if you like action games because they’ve added a bunch of new mechanics to it including one on one duels. Really impressive stuff, can’t wait for the full release

Shuhei Yoshida is leaving SIE on January 15th 2025 after 31 years

SID: Happy to have you, we're going to do a lot of catching up. But I heard you had some news for us here today?

SHU: Yes, I have an announcement to make. I'm leaving Sony Interactive Entertainment on January 15 2025… it's like announcing the launch date of a new game, [something] I haven't done for a long time [laughs].

SID: You've been with Sony Interactive for so long. What's guiding the decision and the timing?

SHU: I've been with PlayStation from the beginning, and this is my 31st year with PlayStation. And when I hit 30 years, I was thinking, hmm, it may be about time for me to move on. You know, the company's been doing great. I love PS5, I love the games that are coming out on this platform. And we have new generations of management who I respect and admire. And I'm so excited for the future of PlayStation.

So you know, PlayStation is in really good hands. I thought, okay, this is my time.

One thing I wish Sony would stop doing is versioning the same game in store carousels for categories of game like Preorder, New, RPG whatnot.

You browse and, for example, of the 10 slots for Preorder before having to expand the category, two games have four slots because they showcase the vanilla game and then premium versions; reckon I've seen even base, deluxe, and premium all showcased in one carousel for three slots for one game.

WTF, man. Doo-doo.

They should show available versions, bundles exclusively from the game page at time of purchase – not everywhere else.

Just thought that weak and wanted to rant. Little too much of storefront real estate goes to this kind of crap.

Good points. I was looking at my POE profile online yesterday and they have a list of purchases I made. I looked up a few and noticed they were PS+ bundles. I clicked the PS+ bundle page and noticed saw some for games like Smite. Those never appeared on the actual purchase page. So yea, they should have everything in one area. If they display the PS+ bundles with the game, it may be more enticing for me to download or purchase.

Cloud streaming on the Portal is amazing. I’m barely getting any input lag, it feels almost like playing natively. Much more responsive than having it play from the PS5 imo. Anyone try it yet?

Do you need a higher level of PS+?
