PlayStation Portal seems to be selling out everywhere. It's not available in any stores in Japan and it's currently sold out on the US Amazon site.

I thought nobody wanted this thing? That's what the neckbeards on the internet told me.
Stoked to hear this.

To follow Zaz up and on a hardware note, DualSense Edge remains the best selling gaming accessory in the USA while PSP sells out instantly across countries.

Sony is synonymous with quality and that in itself proving a draw, IMO; it's all about trust between company and consumer that whatever product or service is on the table, you have shown and can be trusted to deliver:

Honestly seems like to me that Sony is trying to create a sort of Apple like ecosystem centered around gaming. The consumer seems to be embracing it. The more and more Sony related accessories/hardware you have the less likely you are to ever leave the ecosystem. I'll be trying at the portal once it hits Best Buy that way I can return it if I need to.

I know there quite a few dads in here and I’ll be joining the club in March. Any gaming tips with a newborn? Lol.

I have my Steam Deck which should come in handy. Some good headphones to keep noise down. Thinking about the PS Portal as well and definitely picking up the Pulse earbuds.
That's awesome man! Congratulations!

Housemarque getting a new office. Well deserved! Imo, Returnal is the best PS5 game although I know most will probably disagree. It was the game I sunk the most hours into, they are masters when it comes to gameplay. Check out some of their older stuff if you haven't. Didn't realize that both Remedy and Housemarque are from Finland. They got some good devs over in that small country!

Anyway, here's the article and link below.

Housemarque, a member of the PlayStation Studios family and Finland's longest standing gaming firm, is gearing up to launch one of the Nordics' most advanced gaming headquarters by the end of 2024. Located in downtown Helsinki, this facility will not only be a testament to our rich gaming legacy, but will also be a beacon of innovation and creativity in the Northernmost capital.

Our vision is more than just a shiny new office; it's about setting a new standard. With features like cutting-edge meeting rooms, proper audio studios, testing areas, and wellness spaces, we are creating an environment that merges Nordic sensibilities with creativity, aiming to attract the world's best game developers.

Sustainability remains core to our values. Our revamped hub will champion green initiatives, ensuring a balance between technology and planetary care. As we embark on this transformative journey, we're committed to further solidifying our position in the world of gameplay innovation.

We will update you with more info and cool pictures next year!

Nice not my favorite game but easily one of the best games I've played this gen. The combat is so fun and even though I hate rogue-like games the combat was so fun in this that even when I would die and felt defeated having to start over I could easily get back into it.

What I wouldn't give to play Returnal for the first time again. Remnant II is scratching that itch though. It's an amazing game.

Good to hear Housemarque is doing this. These types of actions help attract top tier talent.

I still play it periodically from time to time. Carrying newbs is kinda fun (if not super frustrating).
I ran into someone who ran through Returnal fully with 3 different accounts. When I say fully i mean he levelled up EVERY single weapon. I've accomplished that on my one account but this dude did it thrice (one account was his daughter's). It was one of the few times I truly enjoyed/dominated in co-op. We cleared rooms with ridiculous ease. As luck would have it as we were about to beat the final level i got disconnected. We friended each other but haven't gotten around to play together again.

Returnal was one of the best games I've ever played and it should have gotten GOTY IMO.

TLoU MP project 'Factions 2' moving from production hell to iced indefinitely after Bungie audit, apparently:

It has recently been reported that Naughty Dog is cutting ties with many of its contract workers amid a huge wave of industry layoffs. However, one detail in Kotaku's report that admittedly passed us by pertains to the state of the developer's only known project — its multiplayer The Last of Us game. According to Kotaku's sources, the game is "not completely canceled", but is "basically on ice at this point".
Initially starting out as a multiplayer companion to The Last of Us: Part II, the project grew in size and was eventually spun out to become a standalone title. Though it has been acknowledged by Naughty Dog a few times, it still doesn't have a name and hasn't been publicly shown, save for some concept art.
It's been in the works for years, and reportedly, Sony brought in Bungie to evaluate the live service game and see how things were going. Unfortunately, the outcome wasn't positive, and this apparently set development back quite dramatically. Now, it's "on ice", according to this new report.

I understand they wanted it to be a live service game but from what I understand the first one wasn't and was very popular. I hope they aren't shelving this simply because it wont work as a live service game.

Good point. Forcing a round peg into a square hole, it sounds like given Sony wanting to grow GaaS titles. This type of QC though is exactly what makes Sony...Sony. Project not up to snuff? Then don't put a bow on it and feed it to our playerbase. Sony = signature quality.

Yep agreed. If it was simply just not a good game then ok shelve it and move on. We've already seen the damage that can be done releasing a game of poor quality. Interesting move by Sony to have Bungie going around shutting down projects like this. With that said they are one of the best in the business when it comes to GAAS and the way they were able to turn Destiny 2 around after the initial release was impressive.

It wasn’t even nominated! Can’t win if you aren’t even an option. I was pissed about that. It wasn’t even a strong year for games either. It was absurd not to include it. I hope we get to find out what type of game they’re working on.

I definitely feel it was robbed of a nomination. Definitely was ahead of Deathloop for sure. The others are subjectively as good if not slightly worse or better. At least it was heavily recognized in the BAFTA awards.

Sony needs to let studios that focus on single player content to do just that, if they want GasS give those projects to teams that have a history in making multiplayer titles. I’ll be sad if this took away time from Naughty Dog developing part 3

Can’t believe Returnal wasn’t nominated.

I don't think there is any doubt that it took away from other projects. How much it took away is up for debate but it had to have some effect. I personally don't mind it simply because Sony has a proven track record with me. If they want to try something new I'm ok with it as long as they continue to deliver the SP games I enjoy which they have done.

As far as the ND project goes I heard ND themselves wanted this and believed it could be turned into a GAAS but who knows what the truth is.

I'm just glad Returnal actually was nominated for GOTY. #Respect

Yeah I haven’t seen anything to really suggest Sony was pushing this on ND.
