Went to go buy the game on ps4 because I read it was on sale, found out it's been on sale for over half the current sale price. Now I wait for an actual sale.

I made the mistake of playing MK3 and it made me suddenly want to buy the new one.

Because they are greedy. Imagine asking Premium members that purchased that edition day 1 for 100$ then asking for additional shit story and 3 characters for 40$. Thats robbery imo and only stupid people could buy it. Not supporting this game at all

OH yeah. I thought you refused to buy the game flatout not just aftermath. I refused to buy the game in its entirety. This is gonna be a long lost. I'm sorry. Just excited to find some fellow mk fans. Here are my reasons.
. The roster sucks. I started playing mk back in 2000. First one I played was 4. I played almost all the other main releases. There are 3d characters I'd like to see reimagined, like reiko. Instead they give forcing earthrealmers down our throat. I get it johnny is cool. He's actually in my top five. I refuse to play a game without him. But why do special forces take up a quarter of the roster? Why are there so many humans with guns? Where are all the weird sword and sorcery type characters? What did they did with takeda and kung Jin? There was no excuse for their absence. The new characters except cetrion, suck imo, no sub-boss (motaro would've been appropriate) .
. No tag team. No excuse for this. This is greed. They'll never admit it and instead blame technical limitations but if four people can play on the same console, in their minds that's a loss. Which is messed up.
. Mk 9 had an amazing story. Mkx had a crap story. How is cassie cage all of sudden the protagonist? She showed zero prowess with the green glow. Also why couldn't that be explained and justified more? Instead of saying Johnny is a descendant of mediterranean cultists heros... Just flat out say he's Homer or Achilles or someone's descendant and he can beat Gods. Mk9 20 chapters. Mkx 12 chapters. That discouraged me from 11.
. Slower pace. Shorter combos. Self explanatory.
. Trailers spoiled fatalities.
. Why doesn't nrs make you unlock a portion of the roster like tekken does? Half the fun of fighting games was always unlocking characters (ps tekken is a far inferior product though).
.price. I'm a broke boi at the moment.
. Dlc. Good gosh. Why aren't sindel, nightwolf and shang tsung in the main roster and in the story? Why is fujin only coming now after being requested for the last 5 years? Why do we have 3 potentially four guests? Who ever asked for the joker? (he's in injustice 1-2, arkham, Lego batman, dark knight, suicide squad, James Gunn suicide squad reboot, his own movie, potentially in Pattinson batman verse,) he can't even fight. Why did spawn get released last? Why the gosh darn terminator? I never in my life ever felt the need or desire to play as terminator in mortal kombat. Spawn yes, Kratos yes, Smith yes, bride from kill Bill yes, deathstroke maybe, gerslt from witcher yes, a cyberpunk 2077 character yes. Horror guests and ash Williams aren't "cool" they don't have cool moves and martial arts finesse that makes me want to play them. Wouldn't ash just be a more mobile leather face? Why would I want to play a grown man who thinks having a chainsaw arm is cool? I hate the dlc. Dlc should've been down to two guests at most. Spawn and someone else. And filled out with mk characters. Sheeva was a good pick, havik would be dope, reiko, sareena or li mei, nitara, reptile etc. Also I have no fucking idea why kano is in every mk game. There is nothing "cool" about him. Erron black plays the "dirtbag" role better. Baraka can also go fuck himself.
. I knew the dlc would be bullshit too. A 60 dollar game that wouldn't shaft you with dlc seemed too good to be true.
. It feels like wb has such a grip on it the game has become soulless.

I'd rather buy samurai showdown or the next king of fighters. At least kof allows me to relive nostalgic shit whilst giving me something new and exciting. I always loved nrs/midway but fuck them for ruining my favourite franchise...or at least letting wb do it.

Samurai Shodown is a great game, but the netcode is trash. NRS at least gets that right.

Lucky for me I don't game online. As long as I have a good single player mode (arcade and story mode) it's all good in the hood.

I don't even remember which version of the game I bought but I got the Kombat Pass so I'm guessing I've probably spent around $90 or so on it. I haven't been playing for a few months but the Aftermath is a bit intriguing to me BUT $40 is kind of rough. I am fortunate enough to where that price isn't going to kill me but idk if that content is enough for another $40. If I really liked the characters I'd probably be OK with it but not really a fan of any of the ones that will be coming along with the pack. Seriously no ninjas or cyber ninjas? Robocop is kind of lulzy but that's about it... just like most other guest characters I don't think he's really going to be used too much after the first few weeks. Even Spawn who has been requested for YEARS afaik isn't all that popular- probably because he isn't one of the best characters.

I can't believe I'm living in a world where Sindel and Sheeva are brought back as DLC before ninjas.

I love MK and I think MK11 is great and tbh there's a good chance I still get Aftermath but I will not lie and say there's a lot about the game that I'm not a big fan of.

Reiko? This mf spitting. Bruh. Reiko had the best flip kick I've ever seen in a game and that "vroom" sound effect was filthy. If I was to redesign him I'd make him a ninja again and less stripperific and less shao khan like. I. E. Bring back tricky portals make him a little like sorcerer quan chi with that, emphasize the flip kick and shurikens, add some blood magic stuff from the comics and I would not repeat NOT throw a weapon at him. I love the new fujin but the idea of giving him the sword was dumb. It was never Iconic. The fact that Ed boon has the audacity to give us six special forces characters, kano and Baraka and Kollector and bring back frost but not give us a reworked reiko, especially considering how important he was in the comics, is downright disgusting.
 
Still no Reptile and Ermac, people would main them for sure. Every other character they release is like just for us to try them, after that we back on our main. From kp1 only worth dlcs are Shang and Nightwolf.
I wanted to say i might buy some character on sale, but no im done with NRS shit.
 
Oh and 25 characters as base roster is unacceptable. It was 2019 when this game came up step yo' fucking game up motherfuckers, seriously. Shit was clearly a scam from the beginning. It appeals only to me fans of the series, the people who sneered at it before the reboot and only joined after the raving success it became and doesn't cater to people who have favorites in post trilogy games. Nothing wrong with "casuals" they help with sales. But pandering to them is unnecessary. What drew them in wasn't hre watered down product it was mk9 in its glory. This kind of approach is unsubstantiated. You'll piss off people like me and the. Your precious casual fans will fuck off back to call of duty or whatever else they play. A a balance was needed. Joker is not a fighter or a "cool" character he had no business here. Also the after math chapters could've been unlockable on disc chapters. You can't cut a game up and resell stuff that should've been in there in the first place. I also find holding off on fujin for dlc and waiting until the last dlc pack to be beyond scummy. They knew fans wanted fujin and dangled him in front of us and now he's behind a further paywall. Pathetic.
