Could not happen to a nicer girl, congrats Emilie !

lol @ anybody that said Riner is more dominant than Ono. Ono completely murdered the deepest weight class in the world. Riner plodded around all day and lucked out in the finals thanks to idiotic judo rules. As soon as he faced strong, athletic guys he had so much trouble with them.

Yeah. Riner is a legend but Ono is THE most dominant force in Judo today and it's not debatable.

This entire heavyweight tournament at the Olympics was awful as usual. Majority slow, unathletic guys with bad technique. I mean, the semi-finalist was blown up in two minutes and could barely even tie his belt by the end of his match. It's a joke category and Riner knows this so he's happy to keep on feasting on these cans. I predict that Harasawa will always give Teddy trouble because he is actually decently athletic and good with grips - Teddy will need the ref to bail him out again.

It's honestly not that hard to see why somebody like Ono can throw Riner so handily despite the weight difference. Ono is lightning fast and has the quickest hips and thighs ever seen in the sport - His explosivity and quickness throws Riner completely off balance.

I don't think I've ever seen El-Shahady take to the mat without acting like a complete pussy over something. Anyone see that match where he stood there whining at the ref even after getting the hajime, and the other guy (Tunisian?) just shrugged and dumped him with an O Soto Gari? Choice.

was looking forward to see this rinner machine in action....that was pretty disappointing to say the least.

Lots of cynical gripping and gaming of rules unfortunately. Minimizing of risks is seldom pretty in combat sports.

That's how he usually is in big tournaments. That's how he won the 2012 Olympics and at least 5 of his World Titles. Were you expecting to see a monster coming out and ipponing everybody or something? Dude doesn't always win because his judo is so much better, it's because he's stronger and more athletic than anybody else at HW. And anytime he faces a guy that's athletic and not out of shape, he has some trouble with them. To be completely honest, Riner gets a lot of ref help as well and wins so often by shiido despite the fact that a lot of the shiidos just come out of nowhere for no reason. You saw even in the SF how much trouble he had with Sasson - at the European championships Sasson nearly took him out as well.

If you want to see a once-in-a-lifetime athlete and the best judoka in the world who completely murders everybody he faces, check out Shohei Ono.

Teddy Riner is still a great judoka, he just chose to play safe rather than taking risks when not needed.

Anybody know where to find videos of Ono in Rio? Damn IOC is taking everything down. Talk about a way to help generate hype

lol @ anybody that said Riner is more dominant than Ono.

It may be because Riner's last loss was in 2010, a year before Ono even participated in his junior first world championships.

I suggest that you do some more research. Ono was 19 in 2011 and he won the junior world championship that year. In 2013 Ono participated in his first world championship and guess what...................................he won it.
