Was gutted by Ivaylo's loss and went to sleep.
Im guessing he will deliver in Tokyo 2020.
Will be watching replays now.
What happened, Travis lost in the finals?

Yep yep too bad your tocayo didn´t make it, I like Travis but was surprised to see him going for that newbie Tani Otoshi, the russian just uchimata him...

It was a beautiful counter sure, but it wasn't done with the kind of speed and force, nor was it fully on the back, that I'd expect for an ippon.
It was still a clear throw plus I am still impressed by that Tani otoshi, is a technique hated in many dojos as is all some newbies do and can hurt people with it (I´ve said many times haha) so I guess referee hated it too and found the uchimata a good way to end with that ...
I´m going to sleep, just divagando xD

Got a friend who helps for Harasawa's preparation (a Bulgarian) who commented that Travis, while indeed is a beast on the ground, have just average skills in throwing.
That been said, still impressive performance.

chael says judo is useless

Chael also talks a lot of shit about BJJ, how many professional losses by submission does he have? Oh, 8 of his 14 losses are by sub. It might be that Chael just likes to talk a lot of shit about everyone.

Seriously though, Stevens has a really slick seio nage and a good tomoe nage, I've not seen him throw much with anything else. He's definitely a ne waza expert.

I am, actually, because that was a big mistake in the strategy of my countryman.
Have been going off about it all night, with guys from the national team.
One of them have sparred with Stevens before and was not impressed at all with his stand up skills.
But everyone knew he is good on the ground and in the end, thats what brought him the medal- well planned ground game, backed with good grip fighting and defence.
So, knowing this and staying with his back on the mat, after failed attempt for a throw was a strategic mistake by Ivaylo and his coach.

gotta attack. too many opportunities for groundwork passed up to play a standing game he wasn't even in. poor fella.

That seems to happen sometimes , is like when the georgian gave his back to Teddy Rinner ...

Huh. Finally changed his tune. If you go back to his interviews before the first Anderson fight, he spends a fair amount of time shitting on it.
