Official Judo Thread VIII

but...ZANKY....where else will are we supposed find a misogynistic lutefisk-eatin socialist polemic with an osotogari fetish?

i love me some osotogari, but i also respect bitches and love steak. I CAN'T DO IT ALL ALONE!

Word, it's a big job!

I was doing CSW yesterday and a guy got me in a thai clinch and wouldn't do anything while in it. He even threw a pretend knee like we where in MMA.

It was just annoying since they held on to it so I started to shuck it off, pummel and throw. Of course they knew I was mr. Judo so he didn't attack and waited for me to turn in to take my back.

First was a failed Osoto ( sorry Einarr, I tried) and he went to take my back standing. I did an ippon seoi and he went FLYING! 2nd was a cool uchimata from a collar and elbow grip. I circled out and hit it on the instep. I followed it up with the fatboy choke (barnett v lister) for the tap.

I didn't want to go hard with the throws but because he went super defensive with the thai clinch and threw a knee, I went semi comp mode. It's just a waste of time being defensive, I rather they go for a double/single leg if beat in the clinch. It's what I would do if i was getting beat in the pummel.

Second practice back at my old "kick your ass club"...

...ass kicked. Judie doesn't like it when you leave her, even got the obligatory white belt ashiwaza big toe jam.

I've always liked to do this. Renzo Gracie's stuff is always legit.

And bro, you have no idea how many times I've tapped guys with that Lung Compressor from Kesa Gatame.

Ya the fat boy choke is my go to! I'm not even sure if it's legal for BJJ, anyone know?

Yeah it is. It looks like a neck crank, but all of the pressure is applied to your lungs.
Lower belts never see it coming. With the higher belts, you have to worry about guys taking your back from Kesa Gatame more than anything else.

Whats CSW?

Whats CSW?

Combat Submission Wrestling. It's Eric Paulsons style but it is catch wrestling heavy with loads of leg locks and different neck cranks (plus everything else). Eric is Paul Barnett's coach, but I could be wrong.

What are simple drills that you can to improve judo footwork and agility while watching T.V?

Should I just drill foot-position for throws and strive to get faster at it without losing balance/stumbling all over the place?

Probably foot positioning for ashi-waza. The ol' De-Ashi hustle comes to mind for uchikomi.

Sifu Bolden already filled my head with so many rare techniques and secret moves that there's no space to learn.

Thanks, Submissions 101.

That 9-12-1 record...

BTW, got promoted from no stripe to 2-stripe white belt by Caique and Chris David yesterday! Hooray!

It's also officially my 9th year of Judo. Or 10th if you're Korean.

LOL at #freeeinarr.

Congrats RJ. I miss being a white belt in BJJ, it's the look I get when they realize the white belt is a Judo blackbelt, that's what I miss the most!
