Hundreds and hundreds of hours in this game and I’d never seen this. Thought I’d share for anyone that missed it as well.

Reminds me of this figure I snagged. It's an ogre that became a Paladin.

Okay. My anus is ready. It's time to give this a serious go.

Played a bit today, avoiding all the shit I did in the first run. Castle and Margit are gonna just have to wait. Ran around aimlessly for the most part, but did discover a new mini-dungeon out in the wilds. Got me another summon spirit, which I WILL be using in this hellscape of a game. I ain't playing for pride. Fought a gigantic grizzly bear. Turned out to not be wise at my level, but whatever. Discovered some fuck you ability with my shield, that lets you give back a crazy power shot after a block, which is good because I absolutely suck and will need it.

Anyways, it's time to nut up or shut up with this fucker. Let's go, baby!

If you like guard counters (the fuck you ability with your shield) there's a talisman for it that increases your counter damage. It's in Stormveil Castle so you can get it pretty early. The curved sword talisman.

Alright, pretty much back to where I was before I put it down on my first run. In half the time too, so that's encouraging.

I'll just say this, though...

I don't want to hear any more complaints about "gank squads" in "Dark Souls 2". I don't want to hear another fucking word about it. This game is nothing but gank squads. See a bird? There's another bird. See a dude? There's another dude...with a horn, that calls over more dudes. "DS2's enemy placements were unfair and cheap"...shut the fuck up. This game is all that and more. It's nothing but complete fuckery. Every turn you make, there's like 3 or 4 dudes just waiting to fuck you up with a few allies in the shadows.

I don't mind it, but I don't want to hear DS2 getting criticized for it ever again. It was always a lame complaint and it's even lamer, considering how many players welcomed this shit with open arms. This is a very cruel game that up's the bullshit x100, in comparison to DS2.

Anyways...Margit dead(still a cheap bastard with his combos and stupid ass reach), and I'm somewhere in the castle. Assholes everywhere.

You're gonna love the dlc

Honestly, I doubt I'll make it. Might just be early game woes, but this game is kicking the absolute shit out of me. Moving forward...one inch at a time...

I did get a bleed augment for my sword, and that's been helpful. Is there a skill that can increase it's effectiveness? I think it's under "Arcane", but I don't want to put any points into it if it does nothing for the ashes of war augments.

Bleed is a funny effect. AFAIK it only scales up if the weapon has arcane scaling. Otherwise it's a passive effect and you can't increase it. So you have to check the upgrade table for the weapon on a site like Fextralife.

Can't remember if I mentioned it in this thread or not, but playing with the camera unlocked helps a lot with the gank from my experience. The AI really feels like it was built around the player locking on, so doing the opposite of that helps slip through cracks in the crowd and mislead the tracking on their attacks with better spacing and more dynamic rolling

I didn't think I'd like this game at first cuz I got my ass kicked in similar games.. but I actually like it a lot. Been playing through it recently for first time, it's definitely worth the investment. There are a lot of fun combat options.

I'd recommend checking out a starter guide on youtube to get ahead early in the game. There are also many ways to farm runes, so I wouldn't get too hung up on losing runes.

I used this guide for the beginning

Here's a really good rune farming spot

Once you get better weapons and gold pickle feet + golden scarab talisman, you can get hundreds of thousands of runes in minutes.

Keep in mind, leveling up will only help provide a fighting chance... so farming runes and leveling up isn't necessarily cheesy or unfair. I'm at over level 300 on journey 2 and I still get mauled by packs of wolves every now and then....

You wills till also have to get smithing stones for your weapons to upgrade. Getting the bell bearings to buy them from the hub area is extremely useful.. but you're going to have to play the game and get through most of it to get those bearings.

So, I'm just about wrapping up my 2nd playthrough, didn't have much trouble with any of the bosses... except for Radahn Consort of Miquella

Phase 2 is just unreal.. this may be the only fight in the game I'd actually consider unfair, as his combos are long and have wide areas of effect.

Fuck that guy.

I beat him through ng+4 by admitting to myself that I don't have the timing to stay in the pocket with him. Get your holy mitigation up high, use mimic tear with the dlc rot pots equipped so that mimic will rot him when he's focused on you, and then I was either str / faith with blasphemous blade or a lion's claw hammer or str / arc with lion's claw chicken wing for the bleed.

I'd run like hell until I could land clean shots and stagger him. Then in phase 2 it was run like hell, panic roll for your life, and do damage while he tries to kill the mimic.

Some more screens showing some of the new equipment DLC coming to Elden Ring. Looks to be some new starting classes that are already equipped with new armour sets and weapons. One looks to be a light greatsword as a starting weapon.

I'm going to buy Nightreign. I like what I see more and more from recent trailers and gameplay videos. Don't expect it to reach the heights of their other games but looks like a fun time and it's not full price. I think the major reason I've come around to it is because I need a game to replace Lost Soul Aside since it got delayed all the way to August.
