Yes and no. I did quite a bit of exploring before I tackled the castle. Margit pushed my shit in and forced me to explore. Got a bunch of levels and spirit summons, but I couldn't crack that asshole to save my life. I literally summoned the sorcerer dude and had my wolf spirits on him for 10 tries before I just lucked out and spammed him to death. I mostly put it down to the build I chose, which had me struggling against normal beefed up enemies, because my skills just aren't up to par. In the brief period I played with my Vanguard, those enemies weren't nearly as tough with the shield, and I could dispatch of them relatively easily.
I remember when I first played Bloodborne and got to that first mob lol. They're brutal games but the sealing for how good you can get is really high.
These games get more fun once you ditch the shield. You don't even really need one in Elden Ring anyway since the guard counter is so strong. Just two hand your weapon, briefly block and then hit R2. Jump attacks and guard counters to break their posture is a very satisfying way to play.

I swear I've forgotten everything. Even items in unreachable spots, I wander around trying to figure out how to get up there. I used to know all this shit.
Problem with that, is that I was using twin blades. Even still, I don't think I could manage without a shield for too long without knowing the enemies inside out. They've all got weird delay attacks and never ending combos that make me roll around like a spaz, LOL. I'm gonna sword and board it, until I'm comfortable.

I don't think it's too much at all. I can't even comprehend how absurdly difficult that must be. I feel like landing on the moon is an easier feat lol. I mean how many people could pull this off? There probably won't be anyone else doing this ever again.
Nah, there will be a handful. Gamers are crazy these days. The original Dark Souls no hit run was thought to be impossible. Someone did it, and then a whole bunch of others did it. Same with series runs. Once somebody cracks it, others start chasing it and a cluster of them will actually do it. I mean, you have people that can beat "Sekiro" blindfolded. Doesn't get much more insane than that. Once these pro-gamer autistic types start going for it, the only thing in their way is time and patience.
