This reads oxymoronic to me, DK. Miyazakian titles are unequal parts combat and storytelling with excessive warring being the way to most flavor texts, fragmented dialogues, and such that any story is told through. Is this the only title you've played from Hidetaka?
I dabbled in Bloodborne and loved every thing about it aside from the fact that I was just not gud at it and wasn't willing to grind through it. I also played the Demons Souls remake and enjoyed it a lot.

My point is that what I loved about Elden Ring was the freedom and exploration of it. Those are my types of games. And while I liked the combat it's not the kind of game I would play solely for the combat which is what my initial impression of the DLC was.

How's a 40 str 40 dex build work? I was thinking that would give me plenty of weapon options but I don't want to gimp my damage too much.
I've had that build with two of my characters and both were fun. The giant mace, Stars, and then dual wield katanas. You can always respec at what's her name anyways.

What is your preferred type of combat? Just curious, not challenging you or anything. I've heard a few people say the same thing.

Well again, overall I like it, it's just not why i play the game. I find it a little slow the toll dodging is kind of silly. My favorite combat from a recent game was Ghost of Tsushima.

I was just curious if there was another genre I was missing out on. Haven't played that game yet but it's on my wishlist so hopefully I can catch a sale.

Think I'm going to roll with Bloodhound Fang until I kill Snake Boi then I'll probably swap over to Blasphemous Blade.

Im still in the beginning, just got to the outside of the first castle, but it seems to be running fine so far, no noticeable glitches or freezing, fought a cave full of wolves and they moved a bit weird but I dont know if thats a console issue or just the way they were booked, game does look pretty ugly though, Im sure it looks amazing on the new gen compared to this

Thanks. Keep me updated. I expect downgrades in visuals(what I've seen doesn't look too shabby), but I find some "made for next gen" games, get worse as time goes on and the data builds up. A lot of online videos don't paint the whole picture when they're doing their performance comparison videos. I want a first hand account of when someone is deep into it, and using a system that isn't being used just for testing purposes.

I loved Bloodbornes combat. Trick Weapons are so freaking cool. The Pizza Cutter is my favorite weapon I've used in any of these games.

have only been able to play a few hours once a week, but finally getting close to the end. gave Mohg a proper spanking w/ my trusty hookclaws last night. goof bleeds worse than nate diaz, but sweet boss fight. also bullshit boss fight lol

now we’re slicing through crumbling farum azula w/ the wing of astel. that thing rips.

Got my Bloodhound Fang to +6
Already grabbed 8 and 9 in Caelid. Just gotta make the trek to Volcano Manor for the 7 then I'll have a +9 weapon for Margitt.

I'm level 100, playing on PS4. Haven't had any real issues. Looks great.

However, my PS5 gets here tomorrow and I can't wait to see how it looks on it.

How's your TV?

Let us know what you think! :)

Making my way to Volcano Manor. Only level 40 so I had to cheese the 2 Virgin Abductors by jumping on the rocks and using a whip and a shield. Took forever plinking them at 60 damage a pop but they couldn't get me on the rocks.

Mod note: Friendly reminder to spoiler any content, Tarnished. I know it's easy to throw something from your play up in passing but some people have yet even to embark on the journey through the Lands Between and if this takes GOTY over Ragnarök, we'll see an uptick of curious readers. Appreciate you. *Runic blessing granted unto all dawgkind
