Watched Fextra's video and he gives a solid breakdown of what he saw. I'm a little bummed they moved away from Sekiro's swordplay because it was so fun. A dream would be to have 3 classes (DS, BB, Sekiro) each with their own sub-classes. Once picked, it would change the way bosses and other enemies played.

I'm not disappointed as I do want them to try different things but I hope they don't abandon it forever.

That would be awesome.

It better not be a one-and-done type thing with Sekiro's combat. I'm still annoyed they didn't make dlc where you could fight Lady Tomoe.

Hidetaka has said a few times that despite his body of work he isn't actually all that hot on sequels because he believes newer pastures are important, not just for players but too the studio itself so it can grow; Sekiro was a product of that very sentiment, I believe, so I'd think of whatever subsystems we see next to be less an abandoning and more an evolution or deepening from where we were previously – and perhaps in ways that we as players don't immediately appreciate.

Related, I feel both you and Leoni on hinting at the bad-assery of a Sekiro expansion but I think we're past that point now, to be real. I can still hear the rhythmic clanging of Okami's blade meeting Geni's or Isshin's. Beautiful. ER looks rich in signature From motifs and tropes (I'm trying to ignore overexposure before launch) so the newer alienable WA subsystem for example is an example of outgrowth from previous titles; here's hoping we see some Sekiro-rooted elements in ER too.

Bb 2 is the only sequel I've heard from him on where he expressed active interest but Sony, who's now a stakeholder of their parent co, need greenlight it, which I think is a real option for a post-ER From. With a new engine likely given the generational leap forward that's occurred during development of ER, years will be tacked on, I imagine, to whatever journey we see next – to say, plenty of time for many an ER playthrough and platinum. :p

For where I'm at, I reckon ER will be magical and like all my fellow Abysswalkers, will be nerding out to the max on whatever LE I can get et cetera – but I really don't think it will surpass Bloodborne when all the dust settles. Your idea of classes running that deep is super cool but something based on past offerings I'd be shocked to see. I hope, simpler, that From is tending to oversights typical of them in past titles like piss scaling that ignores lore, disappointing boss WPN transposition, and lazy covenant interplay/rank/rewards. I want this stuff fleshed out and volume turned up across the board. I've no doubt the universe will be breathtaking, chars and tragedy deep, and dialogue haunting. Can't wait and hope to see some Easter eggs too, like a bust of Andre or Solaire in a great hall overrun by vine or some such.

All great issues raised. I also hope that they can really tighten up the game. Wouldn’t be opposed to better hit-boxes personally. I thought BB was one of the best world building experiences I’ve ever played in and I’m a much bigger fan of the faster combat. However, the boss designs made the fights difficult with what seemed like never ending clipping. It made it extra difficult just to try and focus. I only suggested that option because it would have really brought something different. From what I’m reading, this plays more like a DS than a BB or Sekiro which have had 3 of already. Still incredibly pumped though.

Just to be clear, my complain was aimed at From (or maybe Namco Bandai?), not at Vaati.
Btw are you getting this on pc or ps5?

Maybe co-opping with a bunch of sherdoggers on ps5 would be cool.

Yeah, they have a nice detailed recap of everything they saw. These guys know their Souls, so unless Vaati or some other lore hunter had access too, these guys are our best bet to share the info we all want to know.

I love the fact that they are adding even more ways to take on enemies. That jump button/extra fall damage should make for some excellent exploration too.

One thing I'm always blown away by are the crazy details they add to areas you can never visit and rarely, if ever, see. Hellpoint's dedicated jump button made exploring so much more fun. I can't wait to see these masters of level design do with it.

I do hope they allow steeds in MP. I'd love to do some jousting!
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a From game that looked that great from a technical standpoint. Always been the art design and aesthetics that carry it.

I’m almost positive this is the DS3/Sekiro engine so not expecting much there.

I hope it's the DS3 engine. Modders are getting quite familiar with it, so I'm excited to see what modders like the Cinders team will do here.

I'm sure they can tweak things to improve textures, and with the power of the newer systems they are targeting, I expect grander level design/interconnectivity.

You're right though, it's their artists that carry it regardless. Anor Londo is still breathtaking. I'm so excited for this!

PS, brother. Trophies and media-share with network (sick screengrabs, for ex.) bring an added layer of challenge and fun to what's sure to be another storied journey at 500h+. I'm assuming as with past titles of comparable expectation there will be PS exclusive vanity and avatars whatnot as well – Daddy wants. Looking forward to what physical and preorder editions will be on offer.
 
I usually get From games on PS, but this seems like it wont have native 3D audio and minimal usage of the DualSense.

Ill get it on PC. Crank it up to max settings, and with the addition of mods, should lead to a great experience.

You really have to play the Cinders mod for DS3. I won't spoil anything for you but the in the ice area (below the church) of the Ashes of Ariandel DLC, they change the boss fight into something epic. You can also summon NPC's with items, like Solaire at any time until he dies. They add so many enemies, mini bosses, call backs to previous games, even weapons from Bloodborne etc.... it's amazing what they've done.
 
Im torn. If alot of my sherbros are playing on pc. Might get too so we can get a nice co-op league going
I'd probably go PC unless you are a dedicated PS cat and part of the trophy hunter legion; in honest dialogue, players of all platforms concede that PS has the best achievement scene. Pivoting, From has never been good with textures and that's where PC crushes. Which way you leaning?

I want that sweet Elden Ring plat. No but seriously i just prefer console for most games.

I havent been giving a shit about platinum trophies for years. If I played Hollow Knight on the PS5, Id definitely go for the platinum. On PC, I literally dont care about achievements so I feel a little more free. On the PS, I feel obligated to get the platinum if Im playing a game that I love.

I only have DS3 on the PS, but if its on sale, Ill try check it out. Im getting DS2 on PC this year before release of ER, so maybe Ill get it then and check it out.

I really wish you were awarded for getting plats with something other than avatars etc. Maybe a small discount for the devs future game etc would be something.
