One of my best friend texts me every goddamned Elden Ring rumour he comes across online, no matter how nonsensical they are. In early December 2020 he sent me some rumour that it would release in early January 2021. Idiot

Let's hope for another bloodborne level game, it's not like we can do anything else

I actually decided to read this article cause I didnt wanna go hollow.

The author is a dumbo. I dont think he knows what the financials mean. Ofcourse theyre gonna expect less revenue during the next fiscal year since their biggest release hasnt released yet. That doesnt mean ER could be delayed. Expect the game to release by the end of the fiscal year '22 [which means it can be released waay earlier] since they had a big slide about it recently. Makes sense he's the only dude writing on this aswell.

Industry analyst seems to agree.

Don’t think it’s surprising given that we haven’t seen a second of gameplay. Too much shit to play in the meantime. Not gonna worry about it.

Every time this thread gets bumped, I salivate a little.

After the Cyberpunk debacle though, I want devs to take all the time needed. This is prob my most anticipated game ever!

Lower revenues for this FY doesnt mean that the game wont release. Industry sales rose during covid, its an aberration and ofcourse once lockdowns etc are over, the revenues will settle back to the norm. Last FY was insane for gaming in general and these guys didnt even release a game as big as ER. That doesnt mean the game wont release this year though.

ER was meant to be released last year, and if earlier reports are true, then its been in a polishing phase for well over a year. Ill bet my left nut it releases this year.

Edit: This year meaning, before end of March '22

So you’re saying that what they’re citing is a previous delay, not a future/current one?

Its a hedge on a delay that has already happened. Notice how it says 'Main Reasons for setting a lower limit...'. This is a justification for why they dont hit revenue targets for this year, and it makes sense. The longer ER is out, the more they make and vice versa.

Ill bet the left nut and a ban. I think the author of the article was trying to come with new content. They probably have more games in current development that will get delayed that had internal release targets for this year, which could also be another reason why they included 'new works' [plural]
