I"m lvl 23 now. I've just been farming runes. Increased my vigor by a lot and some strength. Not sure where I should be going. I dont see any save spots anywhere other than the places I've already been to.

I killed Fire Giant then switched my build. I maxed out the Rivers of Blood to +10.

Now I'm off to beat Shadow of Erdtree

Last time I switched my hero to use Rivers of Blood, I regretted it. I always relied on big hits and stuns with strength weapons but I think I'm better at the game now to use Katanas

These guys made me switch back to my original build. The Rivers of Blood wasn't even scratching them with 60 dexterity and 45 arcane. I even upgraded a Night Rider Flail and it wasn't working.

And these guys are a pain in the ass. It's like they lock on to you and their attacks follow you while you are trying to hit the weak spot in the back. Even when you hit the weak spot with a critical, it doesn't do much damage

I killed 3 of them though. The Great Stars stuns them when I do hit their weak spot a couple times.

I'll never use that Rivers of Blood again past the early to mid game. I see it can mow down a whole group fast.. It's R1 attacks are slower than the Great Stars R1 attacks though.

When I get more lvl8 Smithing Stones, I'm switching weapons and maxing out my Great Mace. It matches my armor better

When you are finished playing a session, if you hit the small menu button next to the pad (sorry probably a correct name for it) you get the game menus. Then toggle once with your left trigger and you'll have an option to quit (& save) your game.

If you're struggling early on I'd recommend the Bloodhound fang which can be found in the evergaol in Liurnia. If you're really struggling look up Fightin cowboys walk through. If you follow his first two or three episodes he shows how to get a weapon (Bloodhound fang) levelled up very quickly. Also does a good mage setup early.

I just found something out and I think I'm the first one

The little glowing skulls you see laying around. When you break them, there's a little rune on them.

Those glowing skulls are meteorites. They fall from the sky. I just saw one fall and land right in front of me in the open field in Shadow of Erdtree.

It just dawned on me . Those meteorite skulls might be baby Astel skulls. Holy shit

He said he dumped all his points into strength and the Bloodhound Fang scales with dexterity.

He can probably still make it work. Or start a new character.

My hero would beat yours

Level 164

And I'm farming Black Knights

i almost got to 400 over 4 or 5 journeys before the dlc dropped. but then i started anew. i'm at 287 on my latest char. 3rd journey with bullgoat armor rocking the turtle shell on my back for the passive stamina regen buff, and using the pre-nerfed bloodfiends arm in version 1.12. it simply just destroys everything. i can't go back to using the starscourge after giving the bloodfiends arm a try. damage-wise they're about the same, until the bleed procs where the damage pretty much triples and i'm hitting for over 50K with my strong attack while charged up and and it's going to get even more filthy once i start dumping some more points in. i can almost see why they nerfed it.

took a break for a month though. will probably have another quick runthrough one of these weeks. it's probably gonna take me like another 150 levels or so until i can even get this build where i want it to be, but right now it is absolutely destroying.

casting ain't even an option for me right now and i still have to finish out fleshing out my weapon. hilarious though every 2'nd or 3r'd hit is proccing bleed and now i'm one-shotting most bosses. to hell with spells though, i have too much fun bonking everything.

farming albinaurics at the palace ledge approach site of grace is probably still the best way to go about farming for runes though. slap on a golden scarab and pop a gold fowled pickle foot thing. equip a weapon with some good AOE special moves, like a starscourge greatsword. easy 50k runes every like 10-20 seconds. around 140k on 3rd adventure if you kill the bird too. i don't think the dark kights could even hold a candle to the albinauric massacre in terms of runes per hour.

i remember malenia was a bitch come my 3rd and 4th time around with the starscourge, this time i ain't even worried. i don't think she will last more than a couple hits, messmer and the dlc radahn are the only things i'm really worried about having any kind of struggle with, and that dumb little erdtree dlc boss thing is a piece of shit too, but usually i'll just call in my mimic to act as a meat shield and a designated decoy for those cheap encounters. i mean the elden beast is kinda trivial now too, now that you can summon your horse instead of running all over the huge boss area just to try to get a lick in before it fucks off again.

I heard the max level was 500. I'm going to max my hero and get the platinum trophy

That's the goal on this run

And I know a spot where I can get 50k runes in less than 2 minutes. Less than a minute if I use my Ruins Greatsword chain lightning attack. It obliterates a whole mob of those assholes.

I maxed out my Great Stars to lvl 25.. It bleeds the Black Knights in 1 hit

I hit him with 3 R1's and it bled him 3 times

This weapon is nuts

the max level is is 713, where you fill all of your attributes to 99 and you aren't able to level anymore.

it would take a stupid and rather unrealistic amount of grinding on ng+7 to get there and isn't really feasible. the people who have got to 713 just use save editors and shit. by the time you hit 700 it takes like 9 million runes just to level up once. at that point in a natural playthrough even without dying you might only be able to level up once or twice, maybe three times if you clear out everything.

500 is alot more realistic goal, and around there you should have enough points to hit the soft caps in every stat anyways. at 713 though you'd be farming until your eyes bleed. and it wouldn't be worth it as the gains start to drop off significantly after the soft caps and all the farming would quickly burn you out. by 500 you'd be laying waste at anything that even looks your way anyways and most of the encounters would become trivial so anything after that is just a bonus. 500 is still a stupid grind to get there but at least it's alot more practical and realistic than 713, which you'd need to farm another 1.24 billion more runes to hit.

New weapon Friday

Check it out

The Rotten Greataxe

I put a poison ash of war on it. This axe infects with Scarlet Rot and Poison.

I don't got the stones to take it past +20

The color on this axe looks cool
