I don’t understand what you mean by this. No it doesn’t. The PS5 version doesn’t have any graphical bells and whistles that the PC version doesn’t. The PC version’s graphics are scalable meaning you can adjust the graphics settings down to get those quality of visuals you’d get on base PS4 and Xbox One, to those you’d get on PS4 Pro and Xbox One X, or up to those you’d get on PS5 or Xbox Series X.
I believe PS5 has better components than my GPU. Even old games like Doom and Skyrim look better so I just want to see how ER looks. And I want to experience the DLC in the best format available to me.

I usually end up buying all my favourite games on PC and console anyways so I'm not totally upset (ok maybe a little).

I don’t even know how to respond to this. You said you’re running a 6600 XT. The PS5 essentially has a 5700 XT inside of it, so no, it’s not a case of better components.

As for why Doom and Skyrim look better on your PS5 than on your PC the only thing I can think of is that you’re somehow not doing something right with your graphical settings on your PC. I mean there will be plenty of titles where PC and PS5 graphics are at parity because “high/ultra” settings on the PC are equivalent to the “quality” settings on a PS5 but I cannot think of a single game where a PS5 would deliver better graphics than PC. Often PC will deliver better graphics than PS5 such as Cyberpunk where you can turn on ray tracing but all that gives you on PS5 is ray traced shadows, but on PC you can also get ray traced reflections and global illumination, and then on top of all that they recently added path tracing, so graphically PC blows PS5 completely out of the water on Cyberpunk.

Even recent PC ports of former PS5 exclusives like Returnal and Last of Us Part 1 have a few extra bells and whistles that the PS5 version don’t have.

TL/DR: I don’t see how the PS5 would deliver better graphics for Elden Ring for you than your PC can.

Yeah I know, it's odd but true. The 6600xt doesn't have ray tracing so it could be related to that, not sure, but the PS5 definitely has better performance frame rate wise and a clearer, more vibrant picture than the GPU on ultra.

I think the 6700xt might be on par with PS5 but they weren't available at the time I was shopping for a GPU. 6600xt has proven to be a decent budget card but nothing special.

A new GPU would be nice but they're too expensive for how long they last before becoming underpowered, and I don't play enough games to justify upgrading more than once per console generation.

Cold Antspurn Rapier and Fingerprint Shield combo is hilarious. Wound up grinding up to 200 and to my surprise I'm getting summoned pretty regularly still.

So it turns out Elden Ring runs better on my PC compared to performance mode on PS5. Quality mode looks a little better on PS5 because of the ray tracing but it's too choppy. Kinda disappointing. The game still isn't well optimized, even on consoles.

Started an RL1 run and currently stuck on Margit. Fun boss to grind but hopefully I can finish everything before the DLC gets released. lol

Elden Ring doesn’t have any ray tracing on any platform.

Edit: Never mind, I wasn’t aware it had been patched in back in March. But from what I understand it’s only shadows and AO, so gives a shit. Ray traced reflections and GI are where the real goods are at for ray tracing making graphics “pretty” imo.

Is global illumination like the godrays in Skyrim's settings? That shit tanked my PC's performance so you must need a pretty good card to to use it.

Finally had a little time to get back in, got Fire Giant and Godskin Duo out of the way
On my first play through I absolutely merked Godskin Duo somehow. I thought they were another "Mist Noble" from Sekiro and was shocked when I went online and saw they were a legit boss.

I didn't find Radagon particularly difficult either. Elden Beast took longer because it was one of those fights where I kept making stupid mistakes and dying because I was just trying to finish it.

As far as Haligtree...

Haligtree is where Melania is. Toughest yet one of the best fights in the game.
Got so stuck on Elden Beast I eventually gave up on the game until a few weeks ago.

Started a new game and went through pretty meticulously exploring every area and ended up with better gear, using crystal tear flask finally (yeah, somehow didn't figure that out or look it up first time) and apparently finally "got gud" because the torch lighting puzzle in Ordina to get to Haligtree was a breeze this time and after truly learning Elden Beast's moves it wasn't too hard to take it out! Chose Ranni's ending only and next time will touch fractured Marika

Finally got into NG+ and cruised so quickly back through to the ashen capital it was ridiculous, somehow Goldmask didn't drop the clothes on the first run so I breezed through quickly only doing the Brother Corhyn/Goldmask tasks since I really wanted that set, but it appears it isn't dropping again even after finishing the Corhyn story. Oh well, still such a great game and really looking forward to the expansion(s)!

@Valhoven

Creepy-ass lizard lady hahaha

Margit is such a great opening boss. Lots of big slow telegraphed moves with some mix ups that you have to learn. So much fun to fight.

Got to the fat godskin fuck in the Volcano Manor area and my game crashes every time I kill it. Is there anything important that shithead is guarding?

Beating it is needed to carry on through the area to the main boss of Volcano Manor
