Elden Ring's Shadow Of The Erdtree DLC Could Release Sooner Than Expected, Leak Suggests

A new expansion is rumored to be coming in 2025 too.

"The release date for Elden Ring's first expansion, Shadow of the Erdtree, may have possibly been leaked through a gaming retailer's page. The page has since been taken down, but not before screenshots were taken of it.

A gaming retailer in the Philippines called Datablitz had a page for a third-party Elden Ring-themed controller and it mentioned it was a collaboration between Bandai Namco and Thrustmaster. However, what's interesting is that the page seemingly said the controller is available in February 2024 in order to "sync with the new Shadow of the Erdtree expansion release."

There may be additional collaborations in the future as well, including Malenia and Ranni-themed controllers. There's a note that says the designs' releases are to be "synchronized with 2025 Elden Ring major keybeat or new game expansion." This suggests that Shadow of the Erdtree won't be the only expansion Elden Ring could be getting."

Edit: lmao for real? The new Sherdog can’t even show a simple gif. Man, this place is a shit hole!

Now that I'm quoting you, I can see it.

And yeah, it's much, much harder to do the Gif/pic thing now. :(

I saw this yesterday but I'm skeptical especially after the interview a few weeks ago saying they are still hard at work on it. Plus those controllers look horrendous

I’m super skeptical. The fact that they’re bringing up possible future DLC beyond Shadow of the Erd Tree for 2025... Yeah, I’m just not buying it.

Probably keeping this character at 150. I actually leveled this character up using my summon on far and wide while I do all the caves and catacombs.

How does ER play on PS5 now? Is the performance any better than it was on release?

Game is on sale now so I'm thinking of picking up either the PS4 or PS5 version. I've already got in on PC but sadly my PS5 has better graphics than my GPU.

I played 400h+ on the PS5 and had no issues; wasn't aware there were problems either, TBH. So, in my experience, big yes on good performance at time of writing. January Sale price in PS Store is a steal, too; you have until 6 January to decide.

Did you play the PS5 version?

I read the PS4 Pro version actually plays better on the PS5 but that was written shortly after the game first released so subsequent patches may have improved things.

Yeah, 5 from go. Performed without hiccough; sounds like launch turbulence that's long smoothed out now.

Supposedly that's still the case

That's a shame if true. Apparently the graphics are better on the PS5 version but you get a solid 60 fps on the PS4 version because some of the post processing stuff has been omitted.

The sale is until Jan 5 so I'll have to dig around some more to figure out which version to get. Why can't life be simple??

If this is true, normally I'd say go with the more consistent frames but the art direction is both unique and splendid enough in ER, that I'd say go with the graphical delivery of the 5 over the steadier frames of the 4 Pro. Just my hot take so you milk every drop of immersion. Really sorry to hear about all this; didn't see any disruptive frame dips in my play, FWIW.

Yeah I'll probably go with the 5 version. I already get a solid 60fps on PC but I want to see the game in all its intended glory.

Both versions are sold together from the PS store. You can just install the PS5 version first and try it out and if its 45-50 fps is “unplayable” to you (I used to get like 20 fps on Quake 3 on my Dad’s Pentium 2 in 1999 and didn’t complain) then you can install the PS4 version instead for a locked 60 fps.

I just re-read your initial post here and I’m not following. Why do you want it for PS5 if you’ve already got it for PC and get 60 fps?

Because PS5 has better graphics than my GPU. And it pisses me off that it's true, especially because my rx6600xt costs as much as the PS5. GPU's are such a scam these days.

I don’t understand what you mean by this. No it doesn’t. The PS5 version doesn’t have any graphical bells and whistles that the PC version doesn’t. The PC version’s graphics are scalable meaning you can adjust the graphics settings down to get those quality of visuals you’d get on base PS4 and Xbox One, to those you’d get on PS4 Pro and Xbox One X, or up to those you’d get on PS5 or Xbox Series X.
