Multiplat Official DOOM ETERNAL Discussion

I think it depends on where you're at. I believe it releases at 12:00 midnight on the 20th Eastern time, 9:00 PM on the 19th Pacific time. So, technically the same time, but you get it on the 19th on the west coast. That's what I read, anyway.

Yup, my PS4 says it will unlock at 10pm mountain time. Less than 3 hours to go.

Bout 2.5 hours to go boys, I'm brewing up some coffee for this one.

I’ll join y’all tomorrow. Enjoy the rippin’ and the tearin’

Gonna actually start doom 64 first, in less than 2 freaking hours! Need a bit of nostalgia before I dive in to Eternal.

I broke down and got it. 1 HOUR!!!!!

Also, are they literally using Argent energy for these games?

They perform so perfectly for being such absurdly beautiful and hectic game spaces, and how in the hell did they get this massive game into a 40gb download? The first one was like 65!!

Damn I feel bad for you U.S brahs having to wait so long, it released here in AU last night (about 12 hours ago). Ive put about 4 hours in so far, only minor complaint I have is theres a little too much platforming. The ripping and tearing is better than ever though

I was playing some stuff, but then I realized that I just want Doom so I'm dicking around on YouTube for 30 mins. Already got Nvidia's new drivers and made a dumbass Bethesda.net account so at least I'll be ready to go right away.

Games pretty dope so far. ALOT of platforming, which feels weird for a Doom game. Just tried to get into the multiplayer, and man. What a convoluted mess. Fucking tutorial is agonizingly long. It's just too much shit to play multiplayer. They need to fix or revamp that pronto

I'm looking forward to the platforming, but I've loved platformers since I was a wee lad so I'm a tad biased

My literal reaction when I paused the movie I was watching and saw that it was unpacking (minus the sunglasses)

Wanted to speed run Nioh 2 to get this on release but may as well get it and play since I suspect Nioh 2 endgame will be an autistic grindfest like MHW.

Oh yeah, the soundtrack is fucking AMAZING. Definitely puts you in the ripping and tearing mood

4 more hours until Im off work and can play. Should be a perfect mood setter since I have to go to Walmart after 2 hours of slaying.

It runs okay for me. I am getting a pretty wide fps swing. Anywhere from 60 fps up to 130ish. Nvidia doesn't have recommended settings yet, and I'm not sure what setting would be causing that much difference. I'll probably just wait for a patch or an in depth performance thread. Default settings for the game are goofy; they defaulted to 1080p.

I should add that without the fps counter up I would barely notice. Gsync is working fine and the game feels smooth enough, so it's not like I'm dealing with any kind of stutter or choppiness. HDR is weird though; the game itself looks good, but the map is almost unusable so I ended up turning it off. I messed around with the calibration and nothing seemed to help. The game looks fine with it off, but this might just mean that I need to invest in a nicer HDR monitor when those actually become available and affordable (this one is known to not be great with HDR but most of the others that I read up on weren't much better and are a lot more expensive).

Ultimately, the game looks good and seems as fun as advertised.

just asked for a refund. as someone with 400 hours and multiple ultra nightmare runs in doom 2016, couldnt be more disappointed. gameplay mechanics and overall tone change are just too much of a mess. knew from all the preview footage that there would be some differences but wasnt ready for this cluster.

It feels like a hopped up version of Quake. Lots of platforming and jumping around, way more then 2016. I'll wait until I'm farther than just an hour in the game to really form an opinion.

Disabling the Steam overlay fixed my fps (or maybe they were being reported incorrectly by the overlay). I'm now running it at 1440p at what seems to be a solid 144 fps on ultra nightmare (the frame limiter in nvidia's control panel hasn't worked for me for the last couple of drivers, but whatever).

One interview i saw had Hugo saying the dance was altered to increase weapon switching. Towards the end of the first map that gameplay change began clicking. Arachnotron is the first enemy that emphasizes this.
