Multiplat Official DOOM ETERNAL Discussion

Went ahead and preloaded because why not. I'm happy to see that the file size is reasonable: only like 37 gigs. That's way more manageable than 2016.

I don't see how they get it done at 37gigs. We are in an era where its not uncommon for a game to be 100 gigs.

Yeah, that surprised the hell out of me. I was expecting 50 gigs bare minimum.

Same here. These days 37 gigs seems tiny. I've been playing Red Dead lately and I think its over 100 gigs.

I watched Giant Bombs quick look and the game doesn't seem to suffer for it. Sekiro and Control are both similar in size I think. 100 gigs is still pretty unusual, it just so happens that we had two major releases in RDR2 and MW that were close together and had giant file sizes.

are you guys buying digital or physical?

I bought digital and just added it to my Steam library although in the past I've always liked to own hard copies of my games. Over time that's just become more and more uneccesary.

Always digital for me. Haven't bought a physical copy of a game in probably close to a decade

I don't know how long you've been gaming but I still lament the really old days of gaming when you bought a game and it came with all sorts of goodies inside. In the early days of gaming you really got your money's worth when you purchased a game and then over time there was nothing left in that package but a disc.

I probably will get digital, biggest game I've ever bought digital so I hope I'm not disappointed. Will have to delete Red Dead Redemption or Modern Warfare anyways. tough decisions lol.

I'm 34, been gaming since the Dos days. I kinda miss the cases and the smell of a new game manual, but I'm minimalist so I like having everything stored online/in my computer

Think of the cluster fuck that was Fallout 76, I think they had a patch that was close to 100 gigs...a patch.

do you think I should add more drive to my ps4 or just wait ps5? I have so many games I want to re install and play on the LG OLED and PS4 Pro. If I had more room I would have reinstalled DOOm 2016 just for one more go.

You are asking the wrong person because I'm a member of the PC Master Race, however, my advice on something like that is generally wait for the upgrade to ps5.

Always wish I had a proper PC setup. My glory days were Starcraft and orginal Warcraft, Quake, Doom Wolfenstein, Diablo 1. After that I only played PC game called Counter strike of course was epic but that was it. Started playing Tony Hawk and NBa Jam on the dreamcast, even fishing!

Maybe 1 day I'll play pc games again though I know it's superior overall. I heard RDR2 looks insane on there. Doom eternal will be nut also i bet.

I'm looking forward to the 2 v 1 multiplayer, it looks fun. I'm glad they went in a new direction and this mode looks like it suits the unique gameplay well though I suspect we could see some traditional multiplayer modes down the line.

I hope that at some point they just put in some classic free for all death match. It’s Doom ffs!

Really disappointed they completely removed the multiplayer deathmatch mode and thought that this stupid two on one demon mode would be better to focus on.. That shit will get old quick and 2016 Doom multiplayer was awesome. It reminded me of Quake and Unreal. Huge reason why it never became big was because it was full of bugs in the beginning and by the time it was fixed people weren't playing Doom anymore.

As great as the single player looks to be, I might as well just wait to play this on the next generation of consoles coming out at the end of the year. It will look and perform much better and there's no multiplayer to worry about not having anyone else playing way past it's release date.

Doom 2016 multiplayer is what kept me playing for months after I finished the game. It was super underrated.

I suspect they will. I think they wanted to try something new and I think we'll get traditional modes down the line. Straight death match is my least favorite MP mode (I like having objectives) so it's not as much of a downer for me as others

I got a lot of enjoyment out of Doom 2016's multiplayer but I found it very mediocre overall (the levels were great though). It had no identity, there were elements of arena with a COD overhaul which greatly diminished it for me. The loadout system doesn't lend itself well to Doom IMO. Lots of Doom fans felt the same which is a big part of why they went a new direction.

Amazon product ASIN B07CRG7BBH
That's the exact one I got, it must've been on sale because price is higher now so if you shop around you may find a better deal. All I did was out of the box plug it in to the PS4 USB and it recognized it for me, only thing I needed to do was select the external drive as my primary storage source.
