Off season strength training important for muay thai /kickboxing/boxing?

Agree for core work and body rotation.
Well conditioned MT guy will not "sweat like a pig" after 15 reps of any exercise.

Everyone has different threshold at where and how much they sweat. Its a pretty poor gauge for anything.
 
So I guess strength training isn't neccessary to do for striking arts, but if the option is there to do something else like explosive training or muscular endurance training, these would favour over strength training and produce much better results?
 
Maybe he means the point right after a fight when you're the longest out from your next fight, or have no fights coming up, so no training camp at the moment etc..that's sort of an off-season, depending on how often you fight...
