I have. It's based on the fake number of 11 million illegals they kept claiming until they found out this year that it's more than double that. I'd still rather have visa overstays who were at least checked and cleared to come here at some point than people noboy knows anything about or have been deported half a dozen times and just walk back in.

Why does the right keeps using Venezuela as a talking point? The right lost that moral ground when they passed a trillion dollar deficit during an economic boom.

Um, hello, did you not hear the part where she said that illegals who've never been here, paid taxes here and don't speak the language and are waving flags of other countries while breaking the laws are more American than people from here who think there should be an immigration process?

Because it's a clear cut and recent case of Democratic socialist stupidity going off the rails. Chavez and Maduro family members and associates got rich off of rhetoric that is not all that different from Occasional-Cortex.

As for the moral high ground, I'm not happy with the budget, but unlike the Venezuelan middle class we haven't been reduced to eating rats to survive.

A wall would not solve everything obviously, but it would improve the situation. What's the argument against? I'm seriously not understanding.

This is why US 2nd amendment reform is stalled; so many good partial solutions discarded. Sigh.
 
Bernie Sanders himself said you can't have a country without borders and that tough border security is needed. Yes, a wall sounds harsh and is an appeal to emotion but what else are you going to do to secure a border? You can't place security every 10ft.

As a life long Democrat, I am truly and profoundly embarrassed in the face of the current Dem leadership and "up-and-comers".

They don't care about America. Period. It's almost as though they are performing to please the EU or some other group. The whole state of the party is bizarre and unsettling. Like some deviant copy of what once was that jumped over from another dimension.

I don't consider myself right wing or conservative in any way except maybe fiscal issues. That said, it seems like fresh faces the Dems are pushing really don't seem to care about what America was founded on or its principles. It seems like they want to change it into kind of socialist society and turn into a Sweden or Norway. Norway is a great country but it's not America.

America is unique in the world for what it stands for. I'm all for them trying to get money out of politics and being publicly funded but other than that, it feels like they want to change America into something it's not.

That would be valid if that were true, but even presently (with illegal immigration severely depressed from 10-25 years ago) the visa overstays don't account for the majority of illegal immigrants.
