Oblivian's Adaptations

Great job, wow. We're tied for Bench PRs. You have a really wide squat stance too.

Floor to Overhead (Push Press only where noted)
135 lbs x 3

*Power clean form was awful on 245 lbs. I strained my hand and wrist on this as well)

Deadlift
345 lbs x 1
405 lbs x 1 (went up really fast)
485 lbs x fail (*PR attempt)
*I wasn't really expecting to hit this, but I figured I might as well give it a shot before I start my new routine. I'm going to take tomorrow off and start the new routine Tuesday.

Damn! That is a whole lot of strong pressing. Good stuff. How many pounds over body weight was that sohp?

Sorry that I'm just now getting back with this. I weighed in at 183 lbs, so it's only 7 lbs over BW. My best was 187.5 lbs at 173 lbs BW.

That is definitely impressive! From what I read you are getting ready to focus on strength primarily again. Have you or are you planning on doing any pl comps?

When I get really heavy, and the SLDL is a priority, I will use mixed grip or straps. I like using hook grip most of the time to condition my thumbs for clean and snatch work.

Nice work on all the PRs. Have I mentioned I'm jealous of your push press this week? :)

You have a much stronger clean in you. You're pulling the bar really high and barely dropping to catch it. If you work on your form a bit, you'll put up some sick numbers.

Holy crap..

YOU sir have been in PR-city!! I am jealous/proud/impressed all at once.

Thanks.

Definitely focusing on getting up my Bench, Deadlift, Squat, and Push Press #'s right now. No conditioning work, and it will probably stay that way through 2010. I'm lifting 4 days a week now, but next year I may cut back to 3 days lifting, 1 day conditioning and then run a conditioning block where I'm only lifting 2 days a week and maybe doing conditioning 3 days.

I have no plans on competing anytime soon. Lifting is just for fun with me. I'm not against competing, but it's not something I specifically look to do.

I'm debating on going with straps. It felt weird last time I tried using them, but it was with heavier weight than I'd use for SLDL.

I probably won't be cleaning for a little bit. I tried getting my form down a year or so ago, but it never came together. It's really time consuming, and I'd like to just focus on the big 4.

I understand. It's hard to be great at everything at once, you gotta make some choices...lord knows I have.

Nice overhead squats--what's your best?

Also, you can row more than that. Do it.

205 lbs is still my best OHS. I keep DB rows pretty light and high rep. There's something about going heavy on them that just doesn't feel right. It's probably a form issue.

205 is one heck of an overhead squat, at least to me. Nice.

You can dumbbell row a lot more than that, even for long sets. I know this. :)
