Oblivian's Adaptations

Nah, tl/dr.

Yeah, it would be best to learn proper technique lol. When I took Muay Thai for a few months, the coaching was brilliant. Each of the three or four main coaches was a Canadian champion in his weight class (125-145). They were all like 20 as well. I held the bag when the 130lb guy demonstrated a kick. I couldn't believe how powerful it was. Didn't even look like he was trying, he must've just had perfect technique. Hurt like hell, even through the thick bag. Never felt a kick that hard, even when I held the bag for guys twice his size.

Bodyweight = 180.4 lbs (-.4 lbs for day, -5.2 lbs total)

I'm pretty excited about this. I lost 5.2 lbs in 4 days. Tonight I'm having my parents over for dinner (tacos) and it's my day off, so I need to watch overeating. Normally my mom brings a dessert, but she's bringing fruit this time. Also, I know I'll have to eat out at least once this weekend. Because of this, I'm only shooting for being at 179.5 lbs on Monday morning. By September 1, I should be at 175. From there, I give myself 2-3 weeks to get down to around 170.

^Good for you, man.

Thanks. The 5 lbs of elephant ears, ice cream, and brownies melted off quick. You may see me lurking around in the D+S a bit more now as the other 10 lbs could be rough.

Morning Bodyweight = 179.4 lbs (-1.0 lbs for day, -6.2 lbs total)

Yesterday was a day off. I had my parents over for dinner, but I actually didn't overeat. I had 2 tacos and some whole grain rice w/ salsa. Today I know that I'm going to be eating lunch out. If I get one cheat meal a week, this will likely be it. I won't be eating like shit, but their servings are much bigger than what I've been having for this diet. I'm probably doing 3 workouts today (lifting, running, and bag work/shadowboxing), so I'm not too worried about it. I want to keep this weight loss consistent.

Nice weight loss Oblivian.

Just wanted to let you know I am catching up to you in front squats and bench press.:icon_twis

If youre going for the Thai style stay closer to the bag.

Why do you want to lose weight?

Honestly, just to do something different. I think my goals have always been a pretty well rounded thing. I'm most concerned with strength, but I also want to have conditioning and learn new things (such as proper boxing technique right now). One of my goals is to be as strong as possible as light as possible. If I'm able to make similar gains while losing weight, that's a bonus.

I don't compete in anything, so a lot of times I'm just making little challenges to myself. About 15 lbs of the weight I am carrying around is from ridiculous excess or absolutely shit food. I'm not a diet nazi and I never plan to be one. I'm just cutting out all sweets for a while, not eating total bullshit foods, and cutting down portions a bit. I'd be lying if I said NONE of it had to do with aesthetic purposes, but that's not my main drive.

I actually saw that yesterday. I don't think I made any comments in my bitterness :icon_cry2. My front squats keep going up, so you better be catching up quick. As for bench press, that lift progress at the speed of a snail. I'm sure you'll be passing me soon if you make any progress whatsoever.

How's married life?

Good, thanks. Honestly, not much different than before. However, we feel rich and more secure now. Since we didn't have a wedding, we got quite a bit of $ from her parents. We also got quite a few gifts of money from others. It's weird because about 3+ years ago I was so broke and in debt, and now I have basically no debt (besides mortgage and student loans) and savings. Life is good.

Morning Weight: 179.4 lbs (+/- 0 lbs, -6.2 lbs total)
*Surprised that I didn't gain weight. I went to Red Lobster for lunch yesterday and had chicken nachos + a beef taco for dinner at home. Both portions were much larger than I should have had for a diet. I was actually so full after each that I didn't get a training session between lunch + dinner and then I didn't get to my second session until 8:15 PM after my stomach settled.

The bench press comp. sounds fun. Are you going to be a captain?

Also...that is some nice overhead work, as usual.

Thanks guys. I volunteered to be a captain for the competition just because I'm on sherdog for about 8 hours during the day on workdays. Everyone knows it's not due to my bench strength or gains in that department!

Morning Weight = 178.4 lbs (-1.0 lbs for day, -7.2 lbs total)

Yesterday was a day off. CNS was fried from high rep deadlifts + burpee/heavy bag rounds. Today is bench day + LSD run.

Fuck you for smashing my SOHP PR.

Sickly push press. How's it feel to have 235 over yer head?

Thanks! It feels good, but it feels equally bad to have 250 stuck on my chest! After I'm done with 5/3/1, I will completely alter my routine to focus on bench and I'll likely neglect SOHP and Push Press. I'm losing weight right now, and I'm hoping to SOHP 190 lbs with my bodyweight around 170 lbs before I make that alteration.
