Oblivian's Adaptations

I'm a little late here man but good job on the deadlift PR. Looking back on your lifting you have made some awesome progress over the past few months.

What shoes are you squatting in? OHSquats, even more than normal squats, are much more comfortable in o-shoes for me at least.

I appreciate it. I really like to look at the front page of my log to read the progress. I'm hoping the progress continues. If I hit a 500 lbs deadlift, a 250 lbs bench press, and a 350 lbs squat, I'll be happy. Those are numbers I never thought I'd reach. I really need to focus on my squat and get it up there. I had 2 years of no back squats, and it's pretty obvious!

Morning LSD Run
3 miles - 26 minutes

Thickbar Pullups
BW x 10 x 3 sets

Wrist Roller - Thick
35 lbs x backward then forward x 3 sets

Pinch Grip
Three 10's x 5 times each hand
Four 10's x a few fails
Three 10's + 2.5 lbs x 1 on each hand

Hex Dumbbell Claw Hold
20 lbs x 3 times each hand

Grippers (equivalent to COC trainer)
3 sets of 10 with a hold on last rep - each hand

Random Shit
-Moved about 20 concrete boards for my dad. I carried them horizontally with a pinch grip for the 20 feet we had to move. It was actually a better grip workout than all of the above.
-Did a bunch of yardwork which included digging up grass by where we had the fence installed. It was actually tiring work.
-Skateboarded for about 30 minutes. I wish I still had balance like I did 10 years ago.

We're at similar levels of physical strength (hopefully I'll hit a squat PR after this DL contest is done). It would be a travesty if we didn't race to something.

Warmup
Jump Rope 5 minutes

Overhead Squat (going for 1RM)
65 lbs x 5 (warmup)
95 lbs x 3 (warmup)
125 lbs x 2
135 lbs x fail (off balance + came down too fast)
135 lbs x 1
145 lbs x 1 (+10 lbs PR - a bit shaky on form. I felt awkward at the bottom.)

Squat (going for 1RM)
135 lbs x 8 (warmup)
225 lbs x 3 (warmup)
295 lbs x 1 (same as old PR - I screwed up and thought my old PR was 275 lbs!)
315 lbs x 1 (+20 lbs PR total - see notes)

*My form feels off still. I am not comfortable with weight on my back yet either. As you can see in the video, my descent may be too fast and it's off balance. I'll need to work on these more.

SOHP
135 lbs x 5 (warmup)
155 lbs x 3 x 5 sets

Chins
BW x 10
+30 lbs x 4 x 2 sets
+30 lbs x 3 x 2 sets

*I had to go to my parent's house again to help my dad with concrete boards. After that, they treated us to pizza. I ate like a pig and lost motivation to do burpees and stretch after that. I need to quit slacking on stuff like that. I never skip lifting, but I'm prone to skipping burpees/conditioning/stretching a lot.

I'd definitely be down for that. I'm expecting some decent gains in Squats over the next few months, so that might be interesting. I'm pretty sure your Squat will go up quite a bit as well after seeing your 20 rep videos. We'll figure something out.

My routine is going to be a bit weird after the DL competition. My conditioning feels like it is slipping, so I am going to lift 3 days a week doing one of the Big 3 each day. After I'm done with that lift, I'm going to run through a complex. Since I'm in the Front Squat competition, I'll actually be halfway lifting a 4th day doing Front Squats followed by grip. Because of this, I don't really see many strength gains in anything but the Big 3 + Front Squats. See, I'm already making excuses!

Warmup
1/2 mile jog

Sprints
10 sets of 75 yard sprints
The idea was to only have 10 second rests between sprints, but by the 5th set it was around 15 seconds. By the last 2 sets, it was 20 seconds.

Dips
BW x 10 x 2 sets
BW x 6
BW x 4
The idea was to do 3 sets of 10, but I did these directly after sprints. After the second set, my lactic acid levels felt through the roof. I could barely move my arms. 3 sets of 10 isn't too hard on a lifting day, but the sprints made it really difficult.

Core/Stretch
V-ups: 3 sets of 10
Toe Touches: 3 sets of 10
Sprinters: 3 sets of 10
Hip Thrusters: 3 sets of 10

Static Stretch: 15 minutes

*Overall, this looks like a small workload, but I feel exhausted. I forgot how intense sprints are.

Nice work on the PRs, it must be the music.

I keep the Slayer banner up in the corner in case I'm ever feeling like a bitch. I look at it and ask myself, "What would Kerry King do in this situation". From then on, the weight seems to go up.

Warmup
Jump Rope: 5-10 minutes

Squats (form work)
135 lbs x 8 (warmup)
185 lbs x 8
205 lbs x 5
225 lbs x 5 (form felt bad on last 2)
225 lbs x 3 x 2 sets
*I'm definitely going to swallow my pride and keep the weight low until I get the form down.*

Push Press (going for 1RM)
135 lbs x 5 (warmup)
185 lbs x 1 (felt strong)
225 lbs x fail
225 lbs x 1 (+10 lbs PR)

165 lbs x 10
*This was a test to see where I'd be at if the 10 rep overhead wins for the new competition. This was brutal.

That's it for the day. I feel exhausted for some reason. I had a real stressful day at work, so I may hit the sack before 9!

Thanks guys. 225 lbs is a pretty big milestone for me on Push Press. Now I just need to get the deadlift up to 5 plates and I'll be really happy.

Warmup
Some heavy bag technique stuff. About 5-10 minutes of constant movement working on footwork, keeping hands up, head movement, etc.

Grappling
40 minutes. I was the guy feeding submissions for a lot of the time.

100 burpee challenge
A little over 9 minutes. I did better than I thought I would actually. I haven't done this for a while. My goal is to break 8 minutes, and I had 86 at 8 minutes. The last 14 were brutal. I envy anyone who breaks 7 minutes on this.

Static Stretch
15 minutes

Yesterday was a day off. This has probably been the most stressful week since I've been at this job. I'll be glad to see the weekend.

Today I'm going to go for a 1RM on Front Squat and Hang Clean. I'm pretty sure I can put up a bit more weight on Front Squat, but I'm wondering if I can keep decent form on Hang Clean for a 1RM.
