Obama blames Founding Fathers

Thanks, Obama! :(

. . .

For the fascinating insight into historical American architecture. Truly a pleasure to read.

republicans were about to do it when obama lead romney, but romney was leading the popular vote about half through the 2012 election

He's right. It's also exactly what was intended by the structural design of Congress. It's part of why our system is so great, even though it may not seem that way when you can't get what you want passed.

Pretty much. The vast majority of governance was always supposed to be a state responsibility which is why passing things at the federal level was made so hard.

But these days, it seems like people want everything done at the federal level from minimum wage to healthcare to social policy. Even though that was never the Founding Fathers' intent.

nothing what he said is wrong.

its ridiculous that a state with 2 people in it has the same legislative power than heavily populated states.

makes it literally possible for a minority to rule over a majority

I take it you would want the EU to have more legislative power as well so that it can impose whatever it wants on it's member countries? Or do you think this type of governance should only apply to the US?

Well, he's right.
It's funny how much so many of you want some maverick president to change the aura of politics, yet whenever one speaks up on the archaic system we follow, it's pure blasphemy

No, he's not right.

Other presidents in the modern era have gotten a lot of stuff done using the exact same political system Obama uses.

People forget Obama had the largest partisan advantage in Congress when he took office in 2009 that any sitting president has seen since LBJ. Yet he got so little done with it. So naturally Obama is going to complain that the system disadvantages him somehow.

It's funny how a modern president in the year 2014 complains that his problems were created in 1787, and you don't laugh at him.

Nonsense Obama. I, for one, like having every discussion in America reduced and polarized into two opposing viewpoints. Keep it simple stupid.

Individual states have their own senates as well. But that's not what I asked though.

The Senate is set up as the founders intended. The House is not as the number of people being represented by one person keeps being increased. This leads to adjusting districts to favor one party or the other and lessens the likelihood of the representative being connected to people in the district. To make the connection requires money to organize support which is basically buying voters.

The founders biggest mistake was assuming that those elected would do what is best for the country instead of trying to make those in another political party look bad.

Not really. The Senate was set up to be even less democratic than it is today. Under the Founders' design, Senators were not directly elected by the people of the state, but rather by the state legislatures.

Thankfully, this was changed by constitutional amendment.

all liberals are
it's always someone else's fault

people don't take responsibility for anything

And those on the right don't play the blame game? I assume you were trying to be humorous. I laughed..........

I really don't think that a system that's doing exactly what it's designed to do is proof of it's ineffectiveness.

You misspelled Ruth Bader Ginsburg there, genius.

And how the hell is she an expert in comparing international political systems?

Don't feed the beast with these kinds of comments. You make your side look bad.
