Gotham is unaffordable for many, but that’s largely thanks to decades of Democratic policies that Mamdani wants to dramatically expand.


He promises “to lower the cost of living for working-class New Yorkers,” offering free buses, CUNY tuition, child care, a freeze on rents and more.

That sounds great. Yet in reality, his free stuff would actually make the city worse, particularly for the people most desperate for relief.


Take his rent freeze. Owners of rent-regulated buildings can’t keep up with their costs, thanks to lefty Mayor Bill de Blasio’s years of rent freezes and restrictions by Albany progressives.


So they’re holding apartments vacant rather than leasing them, because the rent they’d collect won’t cover the cost of bringing them up to code.

Many landlords are poised to go under — or to walk away from their buildings.

Democrats have also opposed other efforts to boost the housing supply, like Mayor Eric Adams’ City of Yes rezoning plan.

Yet Mamdani’s rent freeze would only deepen the housing shortage. How will that help anyone seeking affordable housing?

Or take his free buses. The only way the MTA could even hope to run them would be to cut down on bus service and repairs.

Nationally speaking, it’s not a broad success. Not like all these idiots in YouTube saying it’s a canary in the coal mine or the sign of the movement gaining national traction. US doesnt move politically with NYC in the slightest bit.

And again, if he ends up winning. It will only damage the brand when he can’t do anything he says because everything he says is actually within the authority of the state governor, and Trump bitch smacks him with ICE raids freshly bolstered by the Big Beautiful Bill

New York? The place if fucked... I don't care. The hot wife is pissed that the place is so fucked up. She wanted to fly out for a week and do Broadway shows and a whole lot more, but has instead agreed to go to Nashville, TN... which I love, because I want to also check out a few homes on Priest Lake just East of Nashville.

I was going to head to Long Hunters State Park to do some camping over the weekend and bring my boat. Looks like a fun area.

If you think housing projects are "incredible", then your standards are far too low for most people.

Yes, San Francisco is famously a literal shithole with a poop map, and the BART system is a drug and crime den.

And again, a mayor does not have the ability to offer socialized healthcare, this guy is just saying he doesn't want to punish criminals, wants drugs and prostitutes all over the streets, and would like to undercut the existing 15,000+ grocery stores in NYC by not having to pay rent like they do.

Canada also caps what their doctors can make. Which leads to ridiculously long appointments for things that are time sensitive. It's not all rainbows and sunshine .
