Elections NYC mayoral race

Everyone, libs and cons, talking about "free this", "free that", "omg taxing people with tons of money1!!!11! NEVER BEEN DONE BEFORE!!111!

This lady breaks down how a fucking progressive tax system works. TL;DW: Everyone is crying over the wealthiest people being taxed like 20k extra for every million they make after the first million. Raising the corporate tax rate will bring it on par with New Jersey.

So, how does this help the problem NYC disporia problem. 125k residents leaving at a rate of 14 billion dollars in lost revenue?

Is the city with the highest millionaire rate going to keep them by raising their taxes?

Florida, Texas, South Carolina says no

Don't know enough about it however if a city is more affordable with good public programs and is pleasant to live in then, logically, less people will want to leave.

Pretty sure NY already has higher taxes than those other places as is. Why aren't all these rich cunts already in red states instead of paying taxes in CA and NY?

If they have businesses in popular areas they will lose money by leaving.

It's top quntiles leaving. Businesses can stay, but NYC isn't a manufacturering economy it's a finance and real estate, workers can remote it.

And Texas and Florida are seeing massive population increases while California and NY cities are seeing there's dwindle.

So, yeah NYC has a 13 billion dollar budget shortage with the current budget, a top quntile exodus and a looming public spending increase. But if you people don't think a tax increase on top earners isn't going to continue that migration out - then cool! Good luck

All that to say the wealthy are getting their way and have been for decades and they're already leaving anyway which kinda makes it a moot point. Maybe less leave, maybe more, maybe the exodus stays the same, it's all speculation till he gets in there, if he does, and we see what he does. I've also not seen the data nor gotten into the specifics of why which I'd think there's a fair amount of speculation there too so it doesn't mean much to me. The wealthy are the status quo and it's not working for the average person. You can't talk your way around that.

At the end of the day, the average person is getting hungrier and hungrier and eventually the people will eat if it gets dire enough.

The average person needs to be able to afford to live.

which makes very little difference. raise the taxes on the businesses making $1B dollars in profit, not just the hedge fund manager making $700K a year.

How much you want to bet youre going to get just as much status quo with the new boss as you were getting with the old?

every single human being that lives outside of america lol only they probably don't say "hell yeah" because they've had it their whole life
Sounds like you should’ve majored in African studies. You were doing good with the first half of that post, but 50% is still an F.

Besides Africa, you think every single human being living in central and South America are getting Medicaid and a bus pass?

let's try some other phrases this guy could say:

- "rape is an artificial construction"
- "murder is an artificial construction"
- "theft is an artificial construction"

such hoseshit.

man, are NY voters like actual children or what? this guy is opportunistically saying shit he knows dumbass white libs will eat up cause they paid 200K for a liberal "education" about ugandan lesbian anticolonial pottery, and because he's wearing immigrant armor so whatever he says must be worshipped.

I'm one of the few people around this forum that actually grew up during communism and actually went to "state sponsored supermarkets". I am completely baffled why supposedly educated people fall for Bolshevik horseshit proven to be a failure. some of you are so dumb it's almost a form of miracle you're not dead yet.

Just throwing shit against the wall here, but seeing the forest through the trees, what if...

The wealthy "elites" lol, have no problem paying more for everything including taxes, if...
it means they can live isolated in a beautiful metropolis, apart from the poors.

Just bus in the servants from outside the city everyday and live in a wealthy utopia never having to sit next to the peasants again.

Promises of "Free" won. NY will be a Utopia.

It's interesting to watch the Democrats go further and further down the anti-Semitic road.

A liberal Mayor and DA will create a city that has high crime, violence, and homelessness. All while bankrupting the city. This guy is that on steroids. The city will never have free mass transit, those institutions are going broke already WITH charging folks. The upkeep and what you have to pay workers is just too expensive to make "free". Defunding the Police has NEVER worked in areas of high crime and it never will. Some people just have criminal behavior and intentions. That is why Target and Walmart are getting rid of self checkouts. I say NYC in the 70, 80s, 90s, through now. Only ever felt safe during Guiliani and Bloomberg. DiBozo gave that all away with his "no prosecuting" DA Bragg and let the homeless do whatever they want policies. Thanks to ICE and Adams having a police background, some of that has gotten better. This psycho Socialist gets in and empties Jails, doesn't prosecute violent offenders because it's a "construct" we will have Beirut in months.
The best case scenario is Sliwa gets some buzz, then concedes to support Adams and he gets re-elected.

he said "medicaid and a bus pass" to simplify and make a joke about me saying health care and transportation. i said "every single person" as a hyperbole, but yes, i indeed mean the vast, vast majority of people. this is how conversations happen with normal people, brother.

do i literally think "every single person outside of america has medicaid and a bus pass?" no. i simply foolishly assumed you understood how conversation works. in your attempt to find a gotcha, you make yourself look cripplingly autistic and incapable of understanding human communication.

All the other candidates talked more about going to Israel than handling problems in NY. I'm not shocked he's winning out
I gave him props. Everybody said the same thing- "I will go to Israel and get on my knees"

He said "I'll stay in New York and fix the issues". Maybe he's lying. But at the very least he is, worst case scenario, pretending to care.

I just want to see him winning so bad

Guess this asshat wasn't around for NY in the 80's and early 90's...

Or just witnessed what happened in Cali with their soft stance crime and why they had to pass Prop 36.

And I agree, him winning will be hilarious... I'll be sitting in Texas watching the clown show in New York after the fucktards vote this dumbass lefty in.
