Elections NYC mayoral race

Adams had a rally today. Calls on the Republican to drop out and endorse Adams.

Adams already left the democrat party, he should be the one to join the Republican party and say he will appoint Sliwa to something
When is the actual election?

Taxing the wealthy like 2.5% to pay for shit for everyone in the city

they're terrified because socialist economic policies are POPULIST policies. "we will tax the multi-billionaire who owns the corporation you work for, to give you free health care and transportation." is a statement that 99% of americans will hear and say "oh hell yeah" but once they find out it's socialism, they cower under the covers. mccarthyism was terrifyingly effective, it seems.

Nobody likes Sliwa. He probably only gets support from Staten Island and old people in Brooklyn.

I don’t think he is a bad guy but he’s a relic from the past. His approach to handling things doesn’t work anymore.

I should've guessed November.

There is a lot of time. And a number of people, ranging from 50 cent to bill ackman and others are all of a sudden chiming in. This primary had horrible turnout, so there could easily be a surge if they form some kind of coalition like MAGa.

The politics of it is interesting too, in that at first, the thought would be to be OK with him winning and let him make NYC worse, which would help the Republican in 2028.

However, stefanik is about to announce he run as the Republican for 2026. A good strat could be to build the coalition now, and use that as a spring board for 2026 NYC gov race and midterms

When making this thread, which had no traction at first, I knew this would be a big topic once he won.

I just wish they could make the coalition be lead by someone other than Adams. I don’t know much about Sliwa, but he looks kind of like a dork and doubt he could ever manage enough support lol

lol, yea, I just said something similar. He looks like a dork, and that red beret looks militant. Not really a good look. Probably would need to be offered some position under Adams.

He is a WWF character from the 80s. He really can’t do anything. He can be the czar of kittens and pit bulls.

I remember a clip of him when he ran last time, it was him with like a community militia group/neighborhood watch. The group was him, a couple guys that reminded me of George Zimmerman, few abuelas and abueloa, and some incel looking types. Was so bizarre. Pretty shocking that is the best NYC GOP can offer lol

lolol people join it so they can pin some THICC Latina against the wall.

The right melting down because of the prospects of a mooslim mayor.

I'm laughing my ass off... it's hilarious. It's funny to watch the Leftists / Democrats with their new shiny toy... who is a anti-Semitic Muslim Socialist. We can't script this any better for normal Americans to reject the Democrats even further... if only he was Trans too, but I guess the Muslims won't allow that.

Primary turnout was higher than 2021 (mostly due to a surge in first time voters)

Also, lol at citing Bill Ackman. The guy's a fucking clown

You'd think they would have learned already. The exodus of companies, small businesses, and tax paying citizens from NY City thanks to Democrat rule over the last decade has been ENORMOUS... we are billions is losses. Add this absolute stupidity on top and it's going from shit hole to hell hole. The Leftists are so stupid it hurts to watch them.

Financial Sector and Asset Migration:

  • 2020 - 2023 - 370 investment companies, managing $2.7 trillion (New York and Cali)
  • Firms like AllianceBernstein moved, and financial-sector employment—previously contributing ~16–20% to NYC’s economy—has declined
  • NYS lost $25 billion in adjusted gross income in 2021 alone due to outmigration, on top of $20 billion in 2020
  • Reduced population (5% loss since 2019) translates into an annual $3.7 billion loss in state income taxes, with NYC accounting for the majority
  • Office vacancy rates (~22%) threaten commercial property tax collections, which account for about 20% of city revenue; projected declines could shave $1.1 billion from the 2027 budget

Leftists are cancer to an economy.

Free mass transit should help businesses really, especially in an already expensive city like New York. It's going to give businesses the opportunity to hire people who might not have been able to afford the commute to their premises otherwise.

It's incredible how far Cuomo has fallen. In just a few years the dude went from governor of the whole state, was given an emmy for no real reason, the media were trying get "Cuomosexual" to catch on and make him some kind of weird sex symbol, and were talking about him being a serious contender for president, to getting thrown out of office and having to run for mayor and losing to a walking meme.

FFS, the dude he lost to is a 30 year old professor's kid who majored in African studies at a $65k/year liberal arts college, was an aspiring rapper working at a squatter's rights organization before running for mayor, has only been a citizen for like 20 minutes, and came up with the brilliant plan for the city to buy groceries in bulk at wholesale prices so they can sell them cheaper, because apparently he thought existing grocery stores were just going to other grocery stores buying individual items to stock their shelves.

Who the hell are you hanging out with that says "oh hell yeah" to being on medicaid and having a bus pass?

Can you point out the main differences between this guy's plans, and what they already do in San Francisco that has won them the title of worst run city in America multiple years running?

Everyone, libs and cons, talking about "free this", "free that", "omg taxing people with tons of money1!!!11! NEVER BEEN DONE BEFORE!!111!

This lady breaks down how a fucking progressive tax system works. TL;DW: Everyone is crying over the wealthiest people being taxed like 20k extra for every million they make after the first million. Raising the corporate tax rate will bring it on par with New Jersey.
