Now that Gane hype died down again can we reflect back at his lack of power and how vulnerable he is

...against grapplers. Because of his lack of power no grappler is afraid to close the distance on him. Also his chin is suspect, Tai dropped him like a sack of patato with pretty much the only punch that he landed in that fight on Gane. Now we have grappling monsters like Jailton, Romanov, Curtis Blaydes, Jon Jones and even Stipe to some extent. He is not beating any of these.

I thought he looked great with very much improved TDD. What he lacks in power he makes up in movement and technique.

Also it's not about "not being afraid to close the distance" against him. Everyone wants to close the distance against him. It's about actually making it happen. Which is harder said than done.

All in all, shit thread.

You're stupid if you think Romanov beats Gane.

He got knocked down by Tai. How does that make his chin suspect ?
I took from that he got heart and grit. Stood up instantly and returned fire hard. Damn Tai took a bad beating there. Ganes best fight.

He is as vulnerable as a baby turtle walking through the sand to get to the ocean.

Huh? He rocked the shit out of Tai Tuivasa with a big punch. He's a 6'4 guy that weights close to 260 pounds. He has power, he just picks his shots and chooses only to throw with full power when he has his opponent off balance and knows there won't be any heat coming back at him.

Curtis Blaydes lol. Dude sends a postcard to telegraph his double legs

Gane's TDD looked improved in the Spivak fight, but to be fair, Spivak tried to take him down after Gane already pieced him up on the feet. Add to that the fact that Spivak, while a capable grappler, is not a takedown artist per se.

For all of his improvements in grappling, Gane does have other areas of concern. He's not defensively responsible on the feet, relying on speed to get in and out instead of head movement - when he starts to slow down, he will get countered / caught.

He also lacks composure when he has his opponent hurt (or thinks he does) - he abandons all technique amd strategy and rushes in, swinging wildly, hitting to the back of the head, overthrowing, etc. A composed opponent (especially one who can play possum / rope-a-dope) will catch him coming in AND/OR Gane will finally get himself disqualified by a ref for hitting to the back of the head.

How can you say his chin is suspect because he got dropped by Tai ??, thats ridiculous. that shot was flush and with so much power, anyone on the roster would have got dropped. Tai may not be the most skilled guy in the world but if he hits you flush he can drop you easily. Remember Tai is cutting to 266, he is like 290 in the octagon on fight night and he is throwing all his force into that punch.
