Trump has literally woken up the GOP to see that most of their base will believe outright lies if it is coming out of their mouth. I think most of them have been so use to Politicians, when they get caught, of coming out and admitting guilt and resigning. The GOP has realize that when you get caught, you double down and say something far more outlandish and hold firm.

It's a simple, powerful truth that you can do whatever you want if your voters flatly refuse to hold you accountable.

Oh, Donny, you poor soul.

I never thought Trump would get impeached, but it sounds like he thinks he will.
I think he is residing himself to the fact that he needs to take this battle onto himself, as his fear grows that they may charge Don Jr.

So we see him stating things that put himself right in the cross hairs and he is willing to take his chances he can out maneuver the prosecution or get a hung jury due to some Trump boosters getting on it rather than seeing them continue to take down everyone in the periphery with Don Jr being tee'd up soon.

This is so fucking surreal how he can completely flip the switch on a completely new narrative and contradicts previous statements and/or shows he was lying.....and his supporter don't. bat. a. fucking. eye.

It's really fuckin weird. Even now, after all that has happened, it's still extremely weird.
He is the master of keeping his idiot base convinced that he is not lying and there is nothing going on. Nothing to see here folks.

I don't think that is the case at all. It is exactly what Trump said. He said "he could shoot someone on 5th avenue and not lose voters" and while that was hyperbole (maybe) what he was saying was 'his voters will not hold him accountable for what he says or does.' On that he has been proven very astute. Trump has a better understanding of his base and what he perceived as their lack of moral fortitude than many give him credit for.

True. It's possible

Assuming Don Jr. was actually running the Trump organization, the idiot son is in deep shit too. Would mean Cohen is still in on the con as well

I honestly have lost track. But wasnt he saying in the past there were no payments or has he never denied deals in the past?
I believe it was no payments, then it was Cohen paid but he didn't know about it, then it was he paid Cohen back through some type of retainer....lol hard to keep track.

Trumpies are literally living a Chappelle's show sketch

LOL. The first 2 seasons of that show are some of the funniest shit ever.

He's the GOAT. I love Pryor, Carlin, Murphy, Hicks, Bruce, and the like, but Dave's shit will be funny forever. I can recite every damn skit on that show by heart and still laugh.

"Oh, Beretta did that shit."

Ah, the elusive "I can kill someone and not lose support" voter trump mentioned.

Uhh...no?

Where the fuck did I say that?

I mentioned earlier that I vote Republican no matter who the candidate is.

Settle down, francis. l@nd0

I get all of that, but my question is whether the judge has a responsibility to ensure that the plea actually fits the crime, that the basic facts of the case match the charges and the plea (and to what extent the judge has to be familiar with the case in order to do this).

Sorry, my bad.

I've never personally seen a judge reject a plea of guilty to the originally charged crimes, but I've seen a judge reject a plea deal for reduced crimes (lesser included charges). But yes, a judge SHOULD be aware of the underlying facts and circumstances of the crimes/charges; I'd be of the opinion that most judges only have a cursory understanding in most minor cases; certainly federal judges will be acutely aware in major cases like Manafort).

Most jurisdictions allow a judge to have discretion to reject a plea deal agreed to by the prosecution and defense, but I believe there's a minority of jurisdictions that require a judge to accept an agreed plea (federal judges are not so required).

Also, in most jurisdictions, a judge can accept the plea but not accept the agreed upon sentence. Usually, the judge retains the sole discretion (absent any statutory reqs) to sentence in any way he/she chooses.

Third party?

Abstain?

Not an option. Even when there was a candidate I wasn't too thrilled about(on either side), i'd still exercise my RIGHT to vote regardless and I always vote Republican. ALWAYS.

It just so happened that Trump was on the Republican side.

So there is nothing a Republican candidate would do that would be a deal breaker in your eyes?

That's a bit partisan even for partisan politics.
