Not Just a Cohencidence (Mueller/Investigation Thread v.20)

Trump hates windmills because of his golf course in Scotland. Scotland put a bunch near his golf course. Trump fought it and lost. He used the dead bird defense in that case. Rudy will probably use the dead bird defense or the Chewbacca defense in Trumps collusion defense.
Needs more dead birds....

No, that's not right. I'm saying that Cohen's pleading guilty on the campaign finance charges is nearly meaningless to the truth of the matter of whether Cohen is actually guilty of that crime. That's because it's fairly obvious that an implicit cooperation agreement is at play here.
lol. That is just stupid. By your view there is NEVER an instance where a criminal can testify against a criminal in a crime they were both in and for it to have any meaning.

I agree with you that a guilty verdict does not imply actual guilt.
Yes but they ARE guilty.

I agree with this. I'm comparing a jury's guilty verdict to a plea agreement signed by a squeezed witness admitting guilt. On average, the guilty verdict is more likely to approximate actual guilt. Squeezed witnesses often plead guilty to crimes they are innocent of.
Nonsense again. Provide a stat to substantiate that beyond anything more than 'you like guilty verdicts where the accused is denying it more than you like criminals admitting their crimes'.

We've seen enough abuse in crimes and how they are prosecuted to challenge what you say.

IF you have two groups, one that is admitting all crimes and one that is denying them, then you have to pretty deluded to put more faith into the one denying having the more guilty folk.

On paper, yes. In practice, definitely not.
Again nonsense. See prior point.

There is no "conclusive proof" (that's reserved for mathematics and logic). We are talking about probabilities here.
Yes and the probability of guys admitting crimes being guilty is higher than in those denying it but convicted anyway.

Your arguments are specious and see through.

Well like I predicted there was only one Trumptard on the jury who stopped Manafort from being found guilty on all counts.

This is the core of your post, so I'll ignore the rest.

Your claim above is true. However, that's not the comparison I made. The comparison I made was between a) those being squeezed into signing a plea agreement admitting guilt for a minor offense vs. b) those who plead not guilty to that minor offense but are found guilty.

Do you have any evidence she was a Trump supporter?

Although you're mostly wrong, you got one thing right. I don't care how I look. I care about what is right.

The fact that Cohen pleaded guilty to a minor campaign finance violation as part of a plea agreement is very weak evidence that he is actually guilty of that offense except in the narrowest sense of the term "guilty".

Trump hasn't been shy with his pardon powers.

If Cohen was only guilty of crimes unrelated to Trump he and everyone else knows that Trump would pardon him.

He flipped because Trump was involved in crimes and he knows it. He knows Trump can't protect him or himself

<Dany07>

"He plead guilty, but he isn't actually guilty"

You're becoming more and more full of shit as this moves along...and we're really just at the beginning. I'm interested to see the progression of your implosion.

Are we really arguing whether someone that pleads guilty is actually guilty? Can we just skip to the end where Trump bots admit they don't care about the law as long as their agenda moves forward?

It's a process. Patience young man.

One voted her conscience despite being a Trump supporter, which is good. I think there are more of her.

Do you think that paying hush money to a mistress is the same thing as making a contribution to a political campaign?

Melania Trump might have given Donald Trump a back rub one night during the campaign to help him relax and have more energy for the next day of campaigning. His son might have cooked him a meal. Are these "in-kind campaign contributions", in your mind?

The point is that the line is blurry. John Edwards paid hush money to his mistress during the 2008 presidential campaign, much more than Trump paid to Clifford. The jury in that case did not convict.

How can Trump's crimes exist if trump doesn't exist?

I wonder if you will still talk this way after you lose your bet to me. I will solicit many opinions on how to edit your signature.
