Resume is debatable but Khabib took much less damage, never got stiffened, lost way less rounds and Islam even struggled heavily against several gate keepers and FW's.

Khabib's the better fighter by all metrics.

Title defenses and resume are metrics. Personal preference whats important. If Islam wins his next 5 fights, wins the WW title, khabibs "i took no damage" metric is pretty dam meaningless.

Islam overall is the more skilled and well rounded fighter.

Khabib however, is more effective and more dominant with his skill set, be it more limited. So that alone makes him the better fighter. Khabib applies his skill set more effectively along with his game plans and shows more dominance and success. If you take Khabib vs 5 opponents and the Islam vs the same 5, Khabib will be more dominant and perform better.

Islam however, will in the end have the great legacy because he kept on fighting and defending his belt and also fought better competition. Under the assumption he continues to win.

Yeah, Islam doesn't have Khabib's physical qualities, but he's more polished on the feet and his grappling is certainly good enough to defend and stay away from the ground.

Skill wise both are great. Islam might have the edge, but it's close. Where Khabib takes it is in pure strength and physicality. He would probably beat Islam just based off being genetically stronger with a close matching skill set..
