Non-Americans and Americans - how do you like Captain America?

They trying to make a series on this bloke

I just wish he had more gadgets, like maybe just one. What is an iconic british tool, or weapon? I dont even think he has laser vision. Since he british why not give him like some toxic breath or something seeing as how Brits have a rep of bad oral hygiene.

Gin and dry humor.

Doesn't turn me off at all, in fact he's my favourite avenger in the movies. I like his old fashioned sensibilities.

To be fair my country has relied on "Captain America" to protect us since the fall of Singapore, and culturally we are America-lite, but still..

I am from India, but that has nothing to do with how I feel about him.

He's just a boring character. I am much more interested in Iron Man or Thor's characters, because they are better written and well rounded.

Captain America hasn't really had much in the way of character development in the Marvel movies. Infact, except for Iron man, and maybe Thor, nobody has really evolved at all past their origin stories in the marvel universe. Plus Captain America's vanilla character is about as interesting as a glass of warm water. So yeh....

He's pretty good, but he's no Captain Freedom.

I also like his old fashioned sensibilities. And he might be my favorite Avenger too, it's either him or Thor.

Those "old fashioned sensibilities" I often feel have been abandoned.

I didn't care for him at first but he finally grew on my in Cap 2 film

Just kind of a cliché character, super American guy who wears American flags on his body.. as a Canadian I see this over super patriotism from you guys and he is like the personification of that, or what you guys would like to be. If he was a real hero he would kill Trump before he gets any closer to the white house

I've always wondered this - how do non-Yanks like Captain America? He's one of the bigger comic book characters and is a big movie icon now but, essentially, he's a bunch of American flag waving and self-indulgence about our collective moral code made into a superhero. So, on top of being a walking argument for performance enhancing drugs, he's an "American Icon" - does this turn off you Europeans, Asians, Africans, etc? And for Americans - do you like him more because he's basically a big American flag?

Never really thought about Captain A until the recent Marvel movies came out; so was not botherd until then. The focus for me is more about Chris Evans and his portrayal. I think the Cap movies have done a great job of not being too nationalistic/jingoistic.

I remember at start of Sam Raimi's Spiderman 2, I think, he BLASTED the American flag in our faces as Spidey burst into action BLERGHHH! Keep that Amerikana bullshit out of Spidey, that's not what he's about.

At risk of dissing the yanks of this site, your Amerikana bullshit is nauseating;

HOWEVER, Marvel's Captain America has done a great job of making it more about the man than the country

I overlook his American-ness and enjoy a charming and well executed Superhero

Love Captain America, always have. Never really considered the geopolitical aspects of the character. To 10 year old me he was just a hero that beat up bad guys and that's how I still think of him.

p.s. I miss the winged suit as well.

I like him. Winter Soldier is the best superhero movie i've seen. Hope he wins in Civil War against Ironcan.

Captain America is real. Jesus sent him here to prepare us.

Dunno about that mate. Caps always been a bit of a wanker too tbh

I saw something similar in a Gambit comic many years ago, where he was deflecting stuff with his staff, and the sound effects were written as "thuk! thuk! thuk!".
