No wrestler has ever beaten Mcgregor

He only fought one wrestler, and that wrestler had a hurt foot, was limping before the fight, and took the fight on a few weeks notice, and he still had a lot of success against Conor.

That said, Conor did extremely well against Eddie. I wouldn't call Eddie a wrestler, but he does have decent wrestling, so good on Conor for shutting Eddie down.
 
If Conor beats Khabib, I think we can put this argument to rest
 
Conor has never fought a great wrestler that is just as big as he is. There is a very good possibility he gets taken down and beaten up. He is going to have to defend that belt and it is not going to be easy.

since he started calling himself one and people ran with it. lol. He's okay but nobody ever called him a great offensive wrestler before he called himself one.

Mendes is an incredible wrestler though. I'm not sure many users understand just how good he was/is . Especially in his college and WEC days. He started standing up fighting for a while which made some people sort of forget. He's really a top wrestler and Conor had some good moments vs him.
 
Mendes is one of the best wrestlers in the UFC. Still only landed 4 of 7 takedowns (lets not forget Conor had a MCL tear 6 weeks prior to that fight).

Hard to fully rate Mendes vs. Conor and their grappling exchanges given Conor had next to no grappling training as he was expecting a stand up war.

Eddie is good but had nothing for Conor.

Wrestling means fuck all to Conor now. WTF is a wrestler going to do to Conor when he is training with a 185 pound BJJ world champion? Nothing. We saw what happened when Eddie got him against the fence, Conor pushed him off like a baby.

Khabib gets smacked. Conor will probably take him down just to show everyone he is for real.
 
On no planet, will you ever see Conor fight Khabib, GSP, or any wrestler. He has maybe one fight left in the UFC, and that will be another striking battle. If you think he is defending the title, you are mad. I think he uses the ALI act to bypass his contract, and fights Nate or Floyd in a boxing match for $$$$$. Then retires.

Agreed. He is really underrated. I think he'd be top in wrestling in the UFC. Not the college elite kind, but the type that transitioned well to MMA wrestling (GSP)

Like one of those high-level fighters that discovers they've got KO power in their hands so they go for that and forget their strengths (Kos and Rashad are prime examples).

Dude McGreGOAT's TDD has improved tremendously since the Mendes fight. it doesn't matter who he faces, he'll come out on top. people wanna say that about Conor because he's loves to stand and strike.. but Conor's gonna be a whole lot tougher to get to the ground now. the second fight with Diaz at the end of the 5th, Diaz got a TD, but you gotta admit.. Conor was tired asf and so was Nate as that's not their normal weight class. Idc what anyone says though, Conor can knock anyone out.

Conor wrestling is getting better, and by the time he fights anyone with good wrestling - which will not be Khabib, he is losing to Ferguson, Conor TDD will be pretty much better than almost anyone.

He has the money to bring the best out there to train with him. Wrestling isn't a problem right now as Conor is already great at TDD, and it won't be a problem at all against anyone after Conor bring those people.

However, reach will keep being Conor hard thing to deal with. Conor striking style is made for him to wreck anyone who doesn't have a big reach, and he is doing that. Conor has a big reach, and he has the best counter of the game, also his speed is crazy. You can't do much if you don't have reach on him. And even with the reach, chin is also important, there is not a lot of fighters who can his shots.

Those who have will still need to have a good chin and good striking, and Ferguson sure has.

Those who don't, well, they will keep losing to Conor by first round finish, or they can get dominated like Holloway was.

Mendes fought on very short notice, he would have kept taking Conor down if he didn't gas so hard. and since when was Siver a sambo fighter? lol, he was born in Omsk iirc, but he moved to Germany at a young age

Mcgregor was in worse shape. He tore his acl and only started to do cardio 2 weeks before the fight. Thats why he was flat footed in that fight compared to his other fights.

Alvarez was state champion and all-american in high school. He would have been divsion 1 had he gone to college. Division 1 wresters are premier wrestlers imo.

And he did not go to college and further his wrestling base and was not ever a D-1 wrestler. There is a big difference between being a good high school wrestler and being immersed in a solid D-1 college wrestling program.

Wrestlers leave a D-1 college wrestling program a hell of a lot more skilled than they were when they entered it 4 years earlier. You cannot discount the coaching and the amount of experience obtained in that time.

There is only one GSP.
