He is an easy top 15 fighter and currently a top 10.

I was upset enough when the best replacement the UFC could find for Shane Carwin, was Matt Mittione.

Nelson, even in defeats against Dos Santos and Werdum, has displayed an almost unfinishable toughness, except of course against submissions. A sub-par opponent in Dave Herman was fun batting practice the first time, but the fans dont want to see any more softballs against this aging great one. Like Anderson Silva, the man is getting older and the window to exploit his greatness is shortening. The inspiration for this post came after seening an espn.co.uk article about possible fight with Pat freakin Barry, the guy who lost to fading Crocop.

Let the iron-chinned Fabio Maldonado move up in weight to fight Nelson or something. Opponents more suitable for Nelson are:

Struve for knockout number 2, Kongo, Hunt, Nog, Cormier, Carwin, Russow, Bigfoot, Barnett.

I don't want to see him vs Reem (Reem would kill him + if Reem does eventually get the belt it would eliminate a possible title fight)

Actually Nelson vs Nog would be sweet it would be a good battle on the feet and if it went to ground it would be a real back forth tussle.

Hunt v Nelson would be epic no words can truely describe just how fucking amazing this fight would be!! The iron chin meets the man with the iron fists would be great!

If Dana brings Barnett over (huge if Dana really dislikes him) Barnett v Nelson would be a great intro fight for Barnett.

Cormier v big country would be a good litmus test to see where Cormier skillset actually stacks up before lining him up to face JDS.

After JDS beats Cain again Cain vs Nelson is another fight I would love to see. I see it as quite winnable for both guys great way to get Cain back on track and it would be a huge win for Nelson and push him into contention for a shot at the belt.

Nelson v Bigfoot be a good fight but I don't want to see Bigfoot cut he is gonna lose to Reem and I can't see Bigfoot beating Nelson so not really sure how I would feel about this one I kinda feel like Bigfoot has been fed to the lions since joining the Ufc I woulda liked to have seen him be brought up slowly he has so much potential.

Love big country and I love his Sense of humor and outspokenness and I also thought he was a great coach on TUF he just had a team full of whining crybabies who did not give him the respect he deserved.

I hope he never changes his attitude it is so refreshing to have someone like him who doesn't just spout the same old crap over and over again..... Would like to see him go to LHW and take a run at the belt.

I don't think it is that stupid. But let's be honest Nelson really hasn't faced that much sub par opponents..... He has fought mir(ex champ) JDS (current champ) Cro cop ( a legend etc) werdum ( a lot of people see him as a possible future champ)

He hasn't spent a carreer crushing cans the guy is a legit fighter and a threat to anyone In the heavyweight division. And he would be easy top 5 if he dropped to LHW.

I would actually like to see Nelson drop to LHW then Rashad and Machida drop to MW then Rory go to MW that to me would be awesome it would completely change the landscape of both divisions and make MW a really really tough division full of monster contenders!

Nelson isn't going to break the top 3-5 yet, but his ability to go the distance with both JDS and Werdum was impressive.

How many other guys recently went the distance with JDS?

None. JDS killed everyone but Nelson. The amount of punishment he took in that fight was ridiculous. I re watched it a month or two ago and I was really impressed.
