I saw the clip of the play where the blade struck Johnson and audibly gasped. I was almost in shock. RIP. Fucking tragic.

I'm going to be straight. The dude who did whatever the hell he did to cause that should never play the sport again. Reckless is an understatement. wildly fling your body around throwing your skate in the air is unconscionable.

Only one point in the last two games, iirc. Bust!

Ruff continues to be absolutely idiotic with Holtz. He did a pretty decent job on a third line that wasn't buzzing at all, due to Mercer being horrendous this year mostly. What does he do? Demote Holtz to the 4th line, he then has a great performance in only 10 mins icetime. What does Ruff do? Give him below 7 mins last game.

Besides goaltending and defense (D will eventually get better with experience anyway), Ruff is a big problem if they want to really compete the next few years.

Not sure you should look it as a demotion. I mean Toffoli, Meier, Palat and Bratt are wingers for lines 1-2 no?
Then you got Holtz, Mercer, Bastian and Lazar for lines 3-4 wingers. So far Mercer has highest points out of the bottom 6 guys so putting him with Haula probably best thing to do. Ofc you could argue that Holtz should play with Haula and Mercer. But the season is long, Holtz gets more play time i am sure.
Just 8 games in but 3rd in East, not like you are in last place (looking at you Penguins).

But he's always done that with Holtz for some reason, not sure why, maybe they don't get along that well. Mercer has 0 points this season. :D

0 points and is in 2nd pp unit. Hmm might put some money on him scoring 1-3 points and couple goals in next 2 games (Wild and Blues).
Wild lost 3 in a row (one of those against Devils) and been a while since Binnington had a meltdown, time for Mercer first period hattrick and Devils score 5-6 goals in first 17 minutes :p
