I see people always talking about his power, but most importantly Ngannou has incredible reflexes/counters which contributes to his finishes.

Here is JDS's trade-mark overhand right against experienced strikers :

Here it is against Francis :

Francis also perfectly countered Reem and Arlovski :

Very correct.

Hard hitting guy.

Hope he fixes his wrestling and does well

He has the best pull counters in the HW division and probably the best straightforward footwork (moves out of position to not get hit) and is always in balance.

Btw, look at how JDS lifts his rear foot while throwing an overhand. That's bullshit and it costs you the fight. Frank never loses balance bc he plants and strikes, which is correct way to do it. JDS also didn't set up the punch nor he did exit properly by pivoting off to recenter but rather turning his back to his opponent and he's supposed to be he best technician. :(

Ngannou can't take that left hand, no one on Gods green earth can.

He can only do a few things really well, and JDS should have known that throwing that overhand right so early in the fight was a mistake. Stipe and Lewis both fought much smarter.

Definitely a great counter striker, but does no one watch film...all three of them threw an overhand right and paid for it. Obviously that isn’t the strike to throw at Francis these are pro fighters and they aren’t learning from the talent obviously

They threw him in there too soon honestly. At the same time HW is/was so shallow that it bears the question who the fuck else? If he focuses more on his grappling and cardio this man wont be defeated for a long while.

I just hope he doesn't pop for horse meat.

Rules says that if you train at your boss gym you are safe from testing because the boss likes his credibility, lol.

most fighters do not, only their coaches do, and that's stupid in my opinion

if MMA had more money at the top lv (by top i mean UFC and other big leagues) we would have more former NFL/football guys trying it, and they do watch tape, that's a big and very underrated advantage that guys like Anders and Menifield have, for example

I like JDS and I was rooting for him, but he threw that overhand like a drunk bum.

Just look at that form! Throws himself off balance and over extends while stepping out of position. Both hands on his hips while he turns his back to the most dangerous striker in the game.

God damn did he disappoint me there. I hope he’s disappointed in himself, too. He should be.

Vicious counter bro, imagine fighter getting fucked from throwing a jab. There is little room for error.

It's a dumb strike to throw period. You put yourself off balance just to try and land one hard strike. It's not worth it.

Well it paid of many times for JDS.

I believe the miss put him off balance. Look at the Hunt gif, he throws the exact same punch but as it connects, he stays perfectly on his feet. But yeah it's a pretty risky punch to throw.

We're just saying he's a great counter striker mate.

I know sometimes it's hard to accept when hype trains are legitimate.

From the gifs I saw he countered bad shots that were thrown a mile away, thats not incredible reflexes/counters. Also JDS against Cain and Hunt threw a combination before the over hand, against Ngannou he threw from out of range and not even setting up.

Just stop

good observation, although its better to throw the overhand he has a very methodical clever practical counter to it for a tall guy, just step back then rear low shovel hook them and combo it with a hook as they stand back up, its the best thing you can probably do to counter the very offensive and well defended overhand punch, id still rather throw the over hand though, these guys just need to get a bit closer and time it better

Seriously what the hell Reem was trying to do? I like the guy a lot but I'm kinda happy he got badly slept for throwing that shitty strikes specially against a murder like Ngannou, hopefully he learned the lesson
