This shows that Francis has extremely good idea to use his arms properly to avoid damage with technique that are outside ordinary. Like this jab here, he leans away from the jab and into Blaydes right hand, but he actually reaches out in stopping fashion for that right hand in case Blaydes throws it. His fists are large and and his arm is sturdy enough to act as a good protection.

I think he got really confused after he tried to clinch Ngannou and it didn't work. He didn't seem to have a good gameplan and had no back up plan.

its actually pretty easy and pretty common to counter a jab. but curt's was not terrible in the gif, just a better counter.

bad jabs are really easy to counter. korean zombie just KO'd moicano in no time flat because moicano through a terrible jab and nearly got his head taken off with a hook.

I think JDS was intimidated after getting hit a few times. I can't imagine he trained to throw punches like that in sparring practices. He looked desperate .
