NFL players are D Level athletes.

Surprised to see the NHL has the highest league minimum salary of the North American top 4, the players' union did a good job negotiating.

The NFL's player union has to be the worst ever! Football in the US is huge, way, way bigger than hockey yet they are the worst paid??

Most telling thing about the NFL athletes is that 78% of them are bankrupt just two years after they stop playing...they need a union and guidance

The NFL has a lot more players than the others. There's like 4x as many people in the NFL as there are in the NBA.

I think that if you have a guy like JJ Watt, Mario Williams or Julius Peppers seriously train MMA for a a year, they would contend for the HW title straight out of the gate.

MMA fanboys hate to admit it, but NFL washouts Schaub and Mittrione were able to have successful mma careers at the highest levels of competition. And they didn't start training until their late 20s. With the right mindset, the athleticism can really help.

Over half of NFL players are OBESE. Nobody in the NFL would ever beat someone like Brock Lesnar.

Weidman would have someone like Suh tapping in less than a minute even with a 100lbs disadvantage.

Lol no they aren't. You clearly don't know shit about football. Offensive lineman are heavy yes, but they're still great athletes. Besides, they're supposed to be big so they're more difficult to push back.

And obviously an NFL player (or anyone for that matter) with zero MMA training would get their ass kicked by a pro fighter. Just like Suh would knock Lesnar on his ass if he tried blocking him.

Ziggy Ansah is a good example of an "NFL freak athlete OMG" who couldn't even make it as a bench warmer for the BYU basketball team, much less even fantasize about playing in the CBA, much less the NBA.

Antonio Gates, Jimmy Graham, Tony Gonzalez (in his case he had both basketball and football experience): these guys couldn't dream of making the NBA, but they not only made the NFL, they become superstars. Not to say the NFL isn't amazing but the NBA truly is in a whole different level, especially considering it's a WAY more international game with a way bigger talent pool to draw from.

Let's face it, tons of NBA players could make the NFL, but no NFL player is making the NBA, and especially not becoming a star player. Otherwise they would be shooting jump shots instead of sacrificing their brains, bodies, and health.

NBA athletes are impressive, no doubt. There are about 450 players in the NBA each year. In the past 50 years less than 4,000 different athletes have competed in the NBA. If you were to take the top 450 NFL athletes each year, I think you'd see comparable levels of athleticism.

Why do you losers on these forums assumed that everyone else that signs onto a forum to simply discuss things is also a loser as well?

It's not really a case of being a loser as much as it is being massively ignorant and bigoted.

It's like if you gave four caveman a golf club and a ball and asked them to hit it as far as they could then introduced them to an amateur golf player who inevitably hit it about 6 times as far - they would apparently think him a magician.

@KILL KILL here is a fat guy doing a more advanced move than a back handspring series:

Whatever anyone's genetic limit in gymnastics is - a back handspring series is not it.

If you come to New York City you see dudes doing crazy acrobatic moves in the streets.

KILL KILL must be from a very small town that he never left.

NFL players get paid the least compared to the rest because they also have the shortest season and play less games than other sports.

I think that if you have a guy like JJ Watt, Mario Williams or Julius Peppers seriously train MMA for a a year, they would contend for the HW title straight out of the gate.

I think you are delusional. Just because Brock did it when the HW division sucked (and he got an easy route to the Title) doesn't mean jackshit nowdays.

All of those guys would get murked with only 1 year of training. Not even by Werdum but guys like Arlovski, Cain, JDS would have em for lunch.

Most of you people obviously don't have any experience fighting.

Fighting is probably 80% mental, i bet most of those guys would crumble like Brock as soon as they start taking a woopin and Brock even had some good wrestling experience.

Even Brendan Schaub who was a NFL player but yet also has a amateur boxing background and a purple belt in BJJ still did not do that great in MMA because he admitted it that he just does not have that killer instinct in him to want to hurt his opponent.

Lol every single fighter 145 and above in the UFC crushes him. Especially with drug testing lmao.

And most MMA fighters who put on pads and got blinsided by Suh would be concussed and would be helped or carried off the field.

I don't know why everyone is obsessed with who the better atheletes are and how any other pro athelete would do at MMA. Personally, I think if any MMA fighter could be play one of the major pro sports, they would.......money talks.

Now that I brought up money; Bill Gates could buy the NFL and the UFC pretty easily, then they would all be his bitches.

How many are on each roster?

I'm just guessing here but

NBA - 12
MLB - 25
NFL - 52

Of course the team with the least guys is going to make the most money. It's why Floyd Mayweather is the highest paid athlete.

NFL and NBA players associations straight suck. I don't know why, pressure from somewhere..

I cannot believe how bad NFL players take dick.

NHL players didn't get exactly what they wanted, but they battled.

NFL has by far the worst players union of all the pro sports. They literally caved on every issue in the last collective bargaining negotiations. Including the percentage of money they get from the league.

Gene Upshaw was perceived as a lapdog of the former commissioner Paul Tagliabue. But Gene was able to get the players that deal that the NFL owners were so hell bent on getting out of. I have no clue what Demarice Smith is good at, because it certainly isnt negotiating.

Average salary doesn't mean as much considering there are 54 players per team so league minimums are much smaller.

NFL teams have to spread the income amongst 53 athletes while basketball only has 12 people per team. Baseball has less than 25, I think. Hockey too.

True story. 53 men on an NFL roster. About 25 on MLB and 12 on NBA.

You do the math.
