I do expect Miss St WR Brenen Thompson to run a low 4.3 at the combine, a 4.28ish wouldn't shock me. Little guy with serious jets.

You have any idea how many athetes got a shot only because they had serious jets? Some not even football players.

Ya don;t do ya?

Xavier Worthy 160 pounds but fast.

Xavier Worthy could run routes and catch.

He's going to get a post draft opportunity. I sincerely doubt he gets drafted.

Croaker you mentioned how small the guy was, right? Hell, Worthy is even ligher but now that's ok?

Dude, what is this thang you got about trying to prove everyone wrong, well?

All I actually said was I expect him to run a fast 40, right?

Calm down my man, chill, if he doesn;t get drafted ...ok.

Chill guy, this....grrrrrrrrrr shit sucks.

I'm not trying to prove you wrong. You just have a very limited view on what would make him a valuable asset to an NFL team. I don't know if he has a top 30 ranking at his position right now on draft boards.

Dude, Carl Lewis was drafted by the Cowboys, a gang of non football sprinters were brought in as experiments. The NFL has a thing about speed.

You saw the video, the guy can play, YES NOT ALL ABOUT SPEED, but the NFL loves speedy athletes.

Every team needs a cat who can back off defenders, take the top off, you know this.

A whole gang of speedy college RB;s were converted to pro WR. NFL adores....zooooooooooooooooooooooooooooommmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Being smalish he must be low 4.3 you don't bring him in to run routes he is only there to....zoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooomm.

in the fucking 80s lmao

So the NFL no longer cherishs speed, don't get out much do ya slugger?

Why did the Eagles give world class hurdler Devon Allen a look just recently. well?

Marquize Goodwin averaged 30 catchs a season for Texas his 4 years there, he was taken in the 3rd round, why......10.08....world class jets. An Olympic long jumper. Ah, talking recently kinda.

That's not what was said, gramps.

Is Devon Allen in the NFL?

Goodwin could actually play football, he was much better than Thompson. I know you only know how to look at statistics like an autistic child, and that's fine and all. There are just levels to football skill that are more important than athletic feats not related to football.

ZOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM...

Rookie;;;

So running fast is not related to football, hahahaha~~~~

Dude, why do they run the 40, well?

Trust me slick a slow 40 will hurt your draft status.

Goodwin avg about 2 receptions a game at Texas, he was brought in because he could run.

Why was Devon Allen brought in, yep.....10.20...jets not his pass catching abilities,

Did you really say.....related to football....dude, blowing by defenders because you have serious jes is football, you cannot be that damn rookie.

Why do big linemen run the 40, right there says it alL............SPEED MATTERS.

Why are so many speedy RB's converted to WR, Tyreek Hill was a RB, yep....can blow by defenders.

Reality, give it a shot.

In American football, the 40-yard dash has always been the traditional test of speed. Anyone who has worked with NFL draft prospects knows how important this test is. It can literally determine whether an athlete has a career as a professional football player. Scouts representing all 32 teams sit in rooms with coaches and front office personnel, sharing the results of their stopwatches and labeling players based on their 40 time. The players are described as the “4.3 guy” or something similar.

The time that appears on the stopwatch seems to be the most important number for these scouts, despite several other tests that are also performed at the Combine. However, the 40-yard dash is king*********** and seems to be the only test that matters.

Speed not related to football, hahahahaha~~

A good 40 will help someone’s draft stock or get them picked up as an udfa sure. But it’s ultimately a novelty stat. Route running and contested catch ability aka tape are infinitely more important.

With the combine coming up and all those 40's, here is why they are important.

To understand the importance of speed in NFL football, consider the following points:

  • Enhances offensive plays by allowing quick separation from defenders.
  • Improves defensive capabilities to close gaps and tackle opponents swiftly.
  • Increases the effectiveness of special teams during kick returns and coverage.
  • Creates opportunities for big plays, leading to higher scoring potential.
  • Forces opposing teams to adjust their strategies, impacting game dynamics.
  • Contributes to player safety by reducing the time for collisions to occur.
Velocity is a big deal, a 220 pound RB with 4.4 jets is a weapon. As his a 255 pound TE woth 4,55 zoom, they bring.....velocity.

A big fast football teams will beat a big slow one 100 out of 100 times.

The fastest cat in college football was a WR at Tenn named Jordan Anthony he won the NCAA 100m, but he is so fast he turned pro in track, what a bummer.

That all depends on are you looking for a possesion receiver or a speed receiver.

Try having a receiver gang where nobody can break a 4.55 40, so the D plays up tight knowig nobody there can get by them. What does that do to your running game?

Every team needs a Randy Moss, Tyreek Hill, somebody who backs off defenders

If a WR can't break a 4.70 in the 40, good luck. I know, but what about Jerry Rice, ha~~~~

There have been at least a dozen track cats who didn't even play college football brought in just because they could run,

This. If he can get off the line without being jammed. And I'm not sure if DBs will try to jam him b/c if they miss, he's gone. But if he gets off hte line, even a handful of plays a game you can use him to pull a safety help over to his side of the field and/or open up underneath routes.

I can tell you this without a doubt. If Al Davis were alive, this dude would probably be the Raiders 1st or 2nd round pick. Darius Hayward Bey....
